Movies about serial killers are a dime a dozen ... but movies about serial killers who are extra nasty and like to taunt authorities? Well, they can be really fun! Case in point - Medium Raw: Night of the Wolf, which after many delays is finally hitting DVD.

"Piranha 3Dd" got a little bit steamier (go figure) with the casting addition of Katrina Bowden to the cast. The Weinstein Company's second journey back into the deadly fish-infested waters of "Piranha 3Dd" will be directed by John Gulager ("Feast"). The cast for this horror-comedy includes Gary Busey, Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, David Koechner, Meagan Tandy, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Hector Jimenez, Adrian Martinez, and Clu Gulager. No word on what the story of "Piranha 3Dd" will be about, though it's easy to guess who will be its villains. Principal photography for the upcoming sequel is going on right now, finishing up rather quickly so it can meet its November 23rd release date for this year.Katrina Bowden is best known for her work in the television comedy series "30 Rock." She's also appeared in other movies such as "Sex Drive," "Tucker & Dale vs Evil" and "The Shortcut.

Dave Franco (known to me as the crazy annoying guy on "Scrubs" and Happy Madison's The Shortcut) has been added to the cast of Craig Gillespie's remake of 1985 campy horror film Fright Night, reports the Playlist. The project is currently shooting in New Mexico and boasts a strong cast including Anton Yelchin as the lead, Toni Collette as his mother, Imogen Poots as his love interest, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as his friend "Evil Ed", David Tennant as magician Peter Vincent and Colin Farrell as a Jaws-like vampire living next door. "I play the arrogant asshole-bully," explained Franco. "Anton plays the main kid so I'm his nemesis at school until he runs into Colin who is supposed to be the ultimate bad guy in the movie. Yeah I play the dk, so it's fun." Penned by Marti Noxon ("Mad Men"), the vamps move in on October 7, 2011.

Actress Katrina Bowden's friendship with "The Shortcut" director Nicholaus Goossen is heating up - they have reportedly become a couple since working on the film. Goossen directed the "30 Rock" star in the 2009 thriller, and reportedly became interested in the 21-year-old on set.
According to U.S. magazine Star, the Los Angeles-based filmmaker has been dating Bowden - who's currently filming the hit U.S. TV series in New York - for several months. A source says of the long-distance romance, "He's worth it, because he's just perfect for her."
Back in 2007, Katrina Bowden also sparked rumor that she was romantically linked to "Gossip Girl" hunk Chace Crawford following their outing at the Angel Ball. A source shared, " Crawford was spotted dancing with his arms wrapped around her. He's been texting (Katrina). He told her that he's not dating Carrie (Underwood)."...

This past week a handful of standout DVD's hit the streets including the highly anticipated Trick 'R Treat and the Ghost House Pictures shocker The Children. A few disjointed films also hit the public market, but I'll steer clear of those duds for the time being and share some insight into some worthwhile cinema.
Trick 'R Treat focuses on four separate Halloween tales that all intersect ala a Tarantino script structure. There's plenty of vengeful ghosts, sexy lycanthropes and odd ball creatures to keep the goose bumps surfacing. Also involved in the story is a father who could use some serious parenting lessons, unless of course his ultimate goal is to raise homicidal maniacs, in which case - kudos to him, he's doing a damn fine job.
One of the beautiful things about this picture is how smoothly Michael Dougherty (who wrote and directed the picture) ties each tale together.

For filmmaker Nicholaus Goossen, having your second full length feature film be a genre movie isn't such a bad thing, especially when it's the first to come from Adam Sandler's production company Happy Madison (dubbed "Scary Madison" for their horror flicks). But naturally, like with any horror film, there were plenty of challenges along the way; including a last minute decision to forego the planned original R rated version and shoot for a PG-13 instead. Shock Till You Drop got the chance to sit down with Goossen for a quick cup of coffee at a little café in Venice to discuss the making of The Shortcut , which Anchor Bay Entertainment releases on September 27. Read on for the full interview! Robg.: First and foremost, I heard that you got your start working with...

"Drew Seeley brings fiction to life"
By Michael Aaron Gallagher
In what could have been a scene right out of Warner Premiere's “Another Cinderella Story,” Drew Seeley, who starred opposite teen sensation Selena Gomez as the fictional pop singer Joey Parker, made dozens of girls swoon as he took the stage at the 2009 Great New York State Fair in Syracuse, NY.
Drew Seeley serenades a fan during his recent concert.
Fans arrived early to reserve seats for the free afternoon concert in Chevrolet Court. Some audience members carried signs and wore hand decorated t-shirts, while others held out roses for the pop star.
Singing a mix of songs from “High School Musical,” including “Get'cha Head in the Game” and “Breaking Free,” a duet with special guest Tiffany Giardina, Seeley performed without a band or backup dancers.
At one point, he briefly jumped down off the stage to sing one of his songs among the crowd,...

Even though his first horror film, The Shortcut, is about to hit DVD shelves on September 29th, that doesn’t mean director Nicholaus Goossen is a newcomer to the scene. Goossen has actually been working in Hollywood since he was still in high school.
Goossen grew up in a boxing family surrounded by celebrities but it was the opportunity to work on the set of The Wedding Singer as an intern that ended up being a life-changing experience for him.
“The first day I got to set, Adam Sandler walked right up to me and introduced himself,” explained Goossen. “I honestly think it was because I was wearing a basketball jersey and he was looking for someone to play with. We immediately became friends which led to me working on the rest of his films from then on.”

The Adam Sandler-produced The Shortcut trailer is here - a variation on the sale trailer we introduced you to earlier in the year. Grandma's Boy Nicholaus Goossen drops the laughs and exercises his scare tactics in this story of a teenager who investigates his town's infamous shortcut and the old man who stalks it. Besides featuring character actors Raymond Barry and William B. Davis, the film stars Andrew Seeley, Shannon Woodward, Dave Franco (James Franco's lil brother) and Katrina Bowden.

The idea of Adam Sandler backing a horror film (under his new Scary Madison banner) needn’t automatically be a negative one; after all, funnyman Mel Brooks’ productions have included the modern classic The Fly, the darkly brilliant The Elephant Man and best-selling zombie author Max Brooks. And, as is revealed on the DVD (coming September 29 from Anchor Bay) of Scary Madison’s first feature The Shortcut, Sandler—who doesn’t take an onscreen credit—and co. were all about making it an R-rated feature; it was the financiers who came on board during preproduction who insisted it be watered down for youth-audience consumption.
The result is a movie that feels awkwardly caught between competing ambitions. It dances around dark territory without fully committing, putting an equal emphasis on typical screen-teen behavior; people die, but little onscreen blood is shed. (There are any number of action flicks, and even horror films,...

The artwork for the first horror film being produced by Adam Sandler, The Shortcut, has shown up online, and all in all I have to say I’m really not impressed. Come on, guys! Enough with the pouty teens! I wanna kill the chick on the left myself just for the look on her face.
The Shortcut is the story of a new guy, who is of course very good looking, moving to a new school, full of good looking people, who is warned not to take the town’s infamous shortcut because (good looking) kids disappear when they do. And if you ever want a teenager to do anything, the quickest way is to warn them against doing it. Teenagers are stupid that way.

Are horror movies still the easiest way to make a quick buck in Hollywood? Sure, the budgets are minimal and genre fans on the whole are a forgiving bunch, but with audiences starting to tire of the whole "torture porn" trend a few years back, you'd think most producers would be moving away from blood and gore. And yet it still seems almost impossible to not make a profit from a horror flick, which is most likely why Adam Sandler decided to get into the scary movie business with his new horror offshoot Scary Madison [1]. The trailer for their first official release, The Shortcut, has just arrived online, and boy does it look terrible. I guess we shouldn't be surprised since it's directed by Nicholaus Goossen of Grandma's Boy fame. I'm willing to admit that it could just be a bad trailer, but something tells me this is going to...

Back in 2008 we told you about Adam Sandler's latest venture, a new division of his Happy Madison production company devoted entirely to making horror movies. They've dubbed it Scary Madison and their first movie is something called The Shortcut. Sandler isn't in it, he's only a producer, which likely just means he gets paid if anyone shows up to see it. But will anyone show up to see it? The first every trailer for The Shortcut has popped up online along with some images over at the website of Mindseye Pictures. Even for a horror movie, it looks fairly generic, though it does involve scenes of an old man chasing kids with a shovel. Seems ridiculous? Not to me, I've ducked a few shovel swings from a crazy old lunatic. Old men who live alone out in the country tend to be a little bit looney and back where...

That’s right, he’s not just the mega-star of goofy comedies where he does strange and sometimes very annoying voices, Adam Sandler is also a movie producer, and his latest is the teen slasher “The Shortcut”. Sure, the trailer makes it look like the most generic teen slasher you’ve ever seen, but did all those teen slashers have Billy Madison jumping out of a bush and hitting the indestructible bad guy over the head with a golf club? I didn’t think so! Okay, so “The Shortcut” doesn’t have that, either, but wouldn’t it be cool if it did? Trailer and images from “The Shortcut” below. Back at Sundance Chud broke the news that funny man Bill Hader (Superbad) was embarking into uncharted waters... horror. Today, they learned that Hader will topline the film currently titled House Of Joel. Assuming the movie happens, Hader will play Joel, a potential slasher victim. "The screenplay, a draft of which Hader just handed over to the good people at Apatow, is being co-written with Simon Rich, a writer at Saturday Night Live," reports Chud. Hopefully this sucker turns out better than Adam Sandler's attempt at horror in The Shortcut. And too bad Apatow isn't working on Ghostbusters 3 for Columbia Pictures. Click over for more.

Fango recently got a chance to speak with actresses Shana Collins and Shannon Woodward about their roles in the new teen fright flick The Haunting Of Molly Hartley, hitting screens today from Freestyle Releasing. Concerning itself with the titular cursed high-schooler, the film aims to pack some PG-13 chills, allowing young horror fans to get their celebratory scares in this Halloween. Collins and Woodward play friends of Molly’s with opposing spiritual viewpoints: The former is the devout Alexis (pictured with Haley Bennett as Molly) and the latter portrays the rebellious Leah.
Having arrived on the acting scene four years ago, Collins is already building a substantial fright résumé, with a bit part in Steven Spielberg’s War Of The Worlds and supporting roles in Raw Feed’s Sublime and the haunted-prison flick Death Row. She was poised for Haunting to be her jump to leading-lady status, but it didn’t work out that way.

From "Fringe" to "Lost" to "Dexter" to "True Blood", there is so much potential for greatness. And after watching the first five minutes of the fourth season opener of "Supernatural", I'm even more anxious to see what trials and tribulations await the Winchester Brothers. As you'd expect, Padalecki and Ackles attracted one of the largest crowds and, aided by devil's advocate/showrunner Eric Kripke, provided one of the most entertaining panels at the show. And that's just one highlight out of a weekend full of them. Luckily we have...

Though you may not think Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison production house would be an obvious place to start up a horror movie, it just goes to show they are trying to expand their horizons. The film is The Shortcut, and it just wrapped filming up in Regina, Saskatchewan, which is practically becoming a new mecca for horror productions.
Kier-La Janisse of Fangoria was on the set and reported back to the mag with an update on the production of The Shortcut, in which Regina doubles as a small town with a very scary shortcut that the local kids avoid at all costs, though inevitably some children go missing from time to time because of it.
To the right you can see a tease from the first shots from the film they have on hand; be sure to head over to Fango to see the rest. The Shortcut is looking at a solid PG-13 rating,...
