Mark Polish, the less prolific filmmaking twin of Michael Polish, has little nice to say about today’s youngsters in Murmur, which aims to be a Blair Witch for digital natives. Throwing a half-dozen annoying social-media producers into the forest with only their cell phones and a deeply dubious game they won’t stop playing, it might’ve looked like a cautionary fable if only it maintained any sort of distance from its protagonists. Even setting such opinions aside, its value as an unscary horror pic is next to nil, and as screens-based mayhem goes, it ranks far below peers like Spree.

Barney Frank talks to Seth Myers. “By the time I retired, there was still a disparity between the popularity of being gay and the popularity of being a politician. But it had flipped. My marriage polled better than my service as a committee chairman.”

Back in 2007, we ran an article called Gay Sex Scenes that Made Movie History. A delightfully naughty exploration of firsts and foresk- ... er, foremosts in terms of gay male intimacy on the silver screen, it celebrated some of the films that blew the celluloid closet to bits, one modesty sock at a time.

So we've decided to bring you an update to our foundational piece that looks at what has happened since. Of course, since most of the ground breaking was done over the last four decades or so, our focus is...

Two people weary from life meet unexpectedly and, even though they only know each other for a couple of days, discover a mind-blowing love that Changes Everything. But one of them has unbreakable commitments elsewhere — forcing him to ask, "Do I dare pursue this mind-blowing love, even if it means hurting other people?"
It's the plot of Bridges of Madison County and Nights in Rodanthe, right?
It's also the basic plot of a charming new gay movie, Redwoods, released last month on DVD.
Everett feels stifled with Miles, the man with whom he is raising an autistic son. But then Miles and their son go away for a week, and Everett meets Chase, a traveling novelist in town to research a book.
And so begins a brief, bittersweet love affair that will echo throughout the ages.
Look, if you simply can't buy this premise of "soul-mates," of love-at-first-sight, you won't like this movie.

If his career keeps moving in the same direction, Matthew Montgomery may end up being the gay Parker Posey. Having played leads in at least seven independent features in just five years, plus another handful of supporting roles, he has established his indie street cred at a time when gay cinema seems to be exploding. Fans of gay cinema will probably remember Montgomery from Gone, But Not Forgotten, Long-term Relationship and the supernatural-tinged Back Soon.
Getting his start in Reign Of The Dead, a living dead short lensed in and around “Zombie Ground Zero,” Pittsburgh, he’s made his way up the indie food chain and appeared in other genre films, including Socket (which I wrote and directed, natch), Fear House and the upcoming Pornography.
