What if opening a suspicious email attachment didn’t just mess up your computer; it manipulated reality itself? Such is the premise of the latest Dust short film, Signal Dark.
“Signal Dark is a Dust short film from Silver Edge Studios. Lucas Anderson is an insular It technician whose life is turned upside down when he stumbles across a mysterious email and its reality bending contents.”
Audiences can’t seem to get enough of Zendaya on the big screen, and her performance in Challengers takes her star power to another level.
“[Zendaya] has been executing her own Tashi-esque world domination. So far, she’s moved from kids’ TV star to being a part of some of the biggest movies on the planet… With Challengers, though, she’s about to go supernova, firing up in more ways than one to become the hottest talent in Hollywood. In Luca Guadagnino’s erotically-charged drama,...

Zack Snyder’s braggadocio reaches new heights as the director argues to Joe Rogan that his movie Rebel Moon did better in theaters than Barbie.
“According to him, Netflix’s whole distribution model is so ‘crazy’ that he thinks more people have probably seen his movie Rebel Moon—Part One: A Child Of Fire than Barbie (when it was in theaters)—due to Netflix’s ubiquity and the fact that you can just throw something on without having to go out to a theater and buy a separate ticket. That seems completely absurd…”

I didn’t think I needed to see an adult animated series made solely around the concept of Hell and Heaven, but Hazbin Hotel has changed my mind. In this trippy and weird animated musical about the politics of damnation and redemption, one can feel like the makers have taken inspiration from old cartoons and infused some dark themes that we generally reserve for gritty dramas. There is a witty story drawn from Adam and Eve describing how Hell was formed, and soon we are plunged into Hell, the origin of all monstrosity, but Heaven has its part to play in it as well. The cheeky and blasphemous nature of the series makes it a risky adventure, but there are some interesting characters in the show that are skillfully explored within this microcosm.

Here at /Film, we have talked quite a bit about how much we love genre-specific streaming services like Shudder or Alter, but does such a platform exist for fans of science fiction? Sure, there's always the Syfy channel on cable, but with so many people cutting cords and pivoting exclusively to streaming, you may be wondering where to find new and unique sci-fi stories. Well, may we interest you in Dust? A sister site of Alter, Dust comes from the folks at Gunpowder and Sky, the independent studio behind hits like "Summer of 84," "Tragedy Girls," "Her Smell," "Hearts Beat Loud," "Call Me Miss Cleo," and "Kobe Bryant's Dear Basketball."
A hub for the very best in sci-fi short films, Dust also has a live linear channel constantly playing from their selection of shorts, so if you don't feel like wading through the selections, you can let the service choose for you.

A project that due to the pandemic saw the lead shifting from Claire Foy to Sarah Paulson, production on Karrie Crouse and Will Joines‘ Dust would take place around August of last year in New Mexico with Annaleigh Ashford, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Bill Heck and Amiah Miller among the cast. Dust is scheduled to be released by Searchlight Pictures with plans to launch the film via Hulu but we sense that this psychological horror thriller is of interest because it was workshopped at the Sundance Institute Writer’s Lab — dating all the back to 2014. Prior to this feature debut, the tandem worked in the short film form.…...

Apple TV+’s post-apocalyptic science fiction series Silo (read our 8/10 review Here) is based on a series of stories written by author Hugh Howey. It started with a short story called Wool, and at one point the plan was to call the Apple TV+ series Wool as well. There’s plenty of Howey stories to continue pulling inspiration from is Silo has a multiple season run: Holston, Proper Gauge, Casting Off, The Stranded, Legacy, Order, Pact, and Dust... with more to come. And it looks like Apple TV+ is interesting in bringing some of those stories to the screen, because Deadline reports they have officially ordered Silo season 2!
Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, provided the following statement: “It has been enormously fulfilling to see the engrossing, atmospheric and beautifully crafted sci-fi epic Silo quickly become Apple’s number one drama series. As audiences around the world have...
