Only Men Aloud were announced as the winners of BBC One's Last Choir Standing last night. The 18-strong Welsh group beat off competition from their rival choirs Revelation and Ysgol Glanaethwy in the final public vote of the series. After the result had been announced by show hosts Myleene Klass and Nick Knowles, the choir's musical director Tim Rhys Evans said: "I'm absolutely elated and very emotional and just grateful to everyone who's voted for us." Nick Knowles claimed that Last Choir Standing would flop when he was approached to host the show, he has admitted. The presenter was eventually convinced to front the BBC One programme alongside Myleene Klass after producers showed him footage of the auditions. Knowles told the Daily Mail: "When they first approached me, I said, 'You're mad. Who's going to watch a Saturday night entertainment show with the word 'choir' in the title?'
