These days there are a lot of movies out there that rely to heavily on million dollar budgets, huge name actors, studio sets, etc. I am not saying thats bad by any means, because there are several great movies out there with all of those twisted together, but then again there are also a lot of completely terrible movies out there with all of those components combined. The Season was a breath of fresh air from 1974. Gritty scenes and sets, impressive camera work, and every single scene that required blood and guts didn't rely on computer generated graphics. Also lets bring into play the fact that its a horror movie where the Amish people are "the bad guys". Anyone who lives in the Midwest will never look at them the same again and if you know anything about Amish, these types of things are happening. While not to the extreme that The Season brings it too, but still gives you the knowledge that this isn't all made up, its entirely plausible. As for everything else in the movie I give great marks to. While most of the actors were not your household name, there are several up and comers. A.J. Bowen, star of The Signal. Douglas Tait, who has appeared in shows like Pete and Pete, Jericho, and movies that include Freddy Vs. Jason, Land of the Lost, and many more. They are paving the way to make this a cult classic in no time. And I'm not gonna sell the Midwest actors short either, Richard Glockner, William Earl, Erin Lund, JP Wohl, Jama Kniffin and exceptional performances from Nya Kendrige as Doc and Julianne Mason as Esther, and many more. This is indeed a good watch and will show you that you don't need millions of dollars to make a movie. You just need a dedicated crew and cast and good things will happen.
