Flying on planes had to be very expensive, so they came out with the brilliant idea to get viewers stuck in a bunker with filthy rodents, bad decisions, a stupid kid absolutely not listening to his mother, doors that wouldn't magically open and cutting off the power to make it more cheesy romantic! And going out to the gate after many unclear days. So so logical!

I had big hopes that the major somehow made it, but...

Season 1 wasn't primarily sci-fi, or a mystery, or an action show. Instead, it was a show about a chase. The constant push to keep ahead of the rising sun kept the story moving fast enough to sufficiently distract the viewer from the logic holes in the story, scientific implausibility, deus ex machina writing and sometimes dodgy production values.

In season 2 however, the chase is over. The curtain opens on all those flaws killing any chance at suspending disbelief. It took me three attempts to even finish watching this episode. As many have noted, the characters have become caricatures, simplified to plot devices and too familiar tropes. Some create tension by behaving inexplicably. Some are supposed to be romantic but fail. Others are the big bad military, for no good reason.

And then there's the question of the seed vault. Why would they want to go there at this point? There would be vast quantities of non-perishable food still available. Have they exhausted other options to get seeds from local warehouses or seed banks before even considering the dangerous trip to Svalbard? (The world's largest seed bank is just outside London, for example).

What we get instead is a whole lot of nonsense talking and a bunch of guys ramming a trolley into an unfeasibly robust door for most of the episode.

However, the final explosion was intriguing, and that's why I rated the episode 3 rather than 1.

There was that door that got closed. And noone can open it from inside nor outside. Who believes this? I hate it when script writers think that the audiance is stupid. And they used 2 episodes trying to open that door. Without success so all the fuss was for nothing. So boring. I loved all the episode of the 1st series but the 2nd starts with a huge disappointment.

One woman ruins most of their food stores, then another woman gets herself and her dumb kid locked in the generator room, while another woman stalls a trip to the air strip, OMG, who writes this stuff? I made it through maybe half of episode 2 and I'm done.
