Abell's play was first performed at the Royal Danish Theater in 1947 - only two years after World War II and the atomic bombing of Japan. It contains a debate on the freedom and responsibility of science in connection with the atomic bomb and attracted attention as Kjeld Abell's contribution to the discussion at the time on democracy and freedom. Are there limits to the freedom of science.
