You're only young once...unless you're George Jetson, who will soon become reacquainted with his childhood. This episode is part of what I consider a "physically altered George" trilogy. There's this one where he turns into a kid, then there's "Invisibly Yours, George" where he turns invisible, and finally, "Two Many Georges", where he's cloned. Anyway, "Boy George" begins by showing that Mr. Jetson is really feeling his age. He barely had the strength to walk into the dining room and fall asleep face first into his breakfast. All the while Elroy complains about his own problems- he gets picked on at school and wants to quit, but his parents won't have it; At work, Spacely is looking to invest in a business called Contempo Computers, which offer the latest in spot-removal and a door security system that feels you up. It's a company that thinks young. Spacely really gets on a youth kick when he brings in a youthful new executive, and he chastises George for his age, even though Spacely's twice George's age, and then he goes home to pout about it and go into a long spiel about how he isn't long for this world and such. What a drama queen. But then comes a conveniently placed television ad for the Nuclear Nutrition Center, advertising all sorts of revitalizing foods, so George decides to give it a go. While in the midst of shopping, he comes across a strange, experimental gloop glop called Rejuvenex. He sneaks some out while nobody is looking and tries some the next morning. Almost instantly, George Jetson is transformed from a tall, lanky 38-year-old man into a small, 8-year-old boy.
While Astro recognizes young George, Rosie does not and assumes he's one of Elroy's playmates, and ejects him quickly. Trouble continues as George gets in his car to fly to work, a patronizing cop pulls him over, taking him to be a truant child and carries him off to Little Dipper School. Looks like he and Elroy are going to be classmates. At least now maybe George can understand what Elroy's complaining about. Some little wiener-head gets out his hi-tech slingshot and gets George in the back. Unfortunately, young Mr. Jetson can't seem to stay out of trouble, so he's given detention. Fortunately, Elroy recognizes his junior father's bitching and comes to his rescue. Without wasting a minute, except to stop and hear orders for his capture over the PA, George commandeers a bike and speeds off to Contempo Computers, hopefully not too late for Spacely's meeting with the president. But first, back to the nutrition center to get an antidote, which turns out to be non-existent. Looks like you're going through childhood again, George. This time, though, when you grow up, don't seek a career in sprockets! But no worries, the goofy inventor of Rejuvenex comes across the cure by accident, turns out it's water; at Contempo Computers, waiting for the meeting, it turns out the young exec Spacely hired was actually a plant sent in by Cogswell, who also wants the Contempo account. Gotta admit, I didn't see that one coming. Point goes to Cogswell in this round. Luckily, George arrives just in time, still a child. Well, Spacely DID want someone youthful representing him. And so, they meet the president of Contempo Computers, who is in fact an 8-year-old child, illegal in real life, but not here. George being a kid gets Spacely the account. But then, the truant officers arrive to haul George away. Fortunately, he tangles with a water cooler and instantly grows back to his normal age. The truant officers have been foiled...for now; So it all works out in the end and, keeping with his recently youthful kick, Spacely makes Elroy his vice president.
This was a nice episode. Intriguing twist at the end, and it was interesting seeing George as a child. Although, they never did solve that bully problem Elroy was having. Oh well, not really important to the plot and I assume it was dealt with eventually. We didn't see much of Judy in this one either, only a cameo at the beginning showing once again how much she digs that incredibly loud music. So, if you like George and you want to see him get himself into trouble, this episode is one for you. I think a popular band got its name from this episode, or visa versa.
