Just a thoroughly mediocre game
GhostMotley8 February 2024
I've had an IMDb account for over 6 years and have never left a review, and having just beaten this game, I felt like this would be fitting.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a mediocre game, it's not as bad as some are suggesting, the characters control well, the gunplay is better than I expected and there are some genuinely fun moments to be had here, but as a package, when you compare this to Rocksteady's previous Arkham trilogy, it leaves a lot to be desired.

The story is serviceable, though it should not have taken place in the 'Arkhamverse', as from a continuity standpoint it does not flow well from the Arkham games, and one could make a compelling case that the events of this game diminish and de-value the events of the previous Arkham games.

The biggest issue this game faces though is the gameplay, missions are extremely repetitive and some of the side-missions impose certain modifiers like grenade only kills or having to shield harvest enemies, these are extremely annoying and are sometimes insta-fail, as the game won't spawn enemies you can shield harvest or drop grenades - it feels like minimal, if any playtesting was done here.

I would not recommend paying full price here, I could only ever recommend you consider this game when on-sale or if a steep discount is available, and being that this game is an always online, games as a service, the servers could be shut down at any moment, should WB games deem it to be economically unviable to continue supporting this game.

The developer (Rocksteady) has outlined post-launch content and promised at some point in 2024, there will be an offline mode, but these are just promises, and as we've seen with live-service games before, if the player base falls and the game isn't selling well, even this might not come to fruition.

Suicide Squad Kill The Arkham Verse
atavio24 February 2024
I am so disappointed in Rocksteady. For a company that is known for taking pride in there game's does not show here, Suicide Squad is unfinished and unplayable. Every mission I complete puts me in a frozen loading Metropolis screen or will load me completely off the map in blackness and I can not play unless I go to the checkpoint that was made before the last, with means I can't even finish the game if I wanted to. Not to mention the gameplay being extremely repetitive and boring. I'm a huge of the first 3 Arkham games, but I can say now Suicide Squad has done nothing but kill the Arkham verse.

Good gameplay but bad storyline
bobbycarroll-823358 March 2024
This game isn't that bad but it is probably my least favourite title in the series I like some of the characters. Deadshot is my favourite character in the game and I liked the gameplay, I like how Deadshot can use a sniper rifle very fast but the storyline is very bad and I also hate the mission design of the game they get very repetitive and after you finish the story there's nothing to do but finish annoying side quests and the map also feels empty and the trailers were very misleading to the actual game but I liked that nice tribute they added for Kevin Conroy it was very nice of them to do that.

Disrespectful to late Kevin Conory
tanishaabdulrahman7 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe this is same company that gave us batman arkham series one of best games i played. The leaks are true about this game between disrespecting the late Kevin Conory horrible story and making justice league IQ is 0. The game has too many between how buggy and glitches. Unlikeable characters and making it live service game this is marvel avengers all over again.

Spoiler if you want to know they kill justice league most disrespectful way possible. They pissed on the flash. Strip green laturn clothing. Disrespectful to one of best and amazing batman being shot on the head by Harley Quinn.

You know when the game is bad when everyone on YouTube points it out. I suggest you don't support this game ignore positive reviews they are written by bots same with steam ones.

Go play arkham games instead of this mess of game.

Chaotic just for the sake of it
scottpull9 February 2024
It's over the top, and it lacks real direction and flow.

The story feels just pieced together from random ideas and the mini boss parts come and go quicker than you are ready for.

It's chaotic and not something to sit and enjoy.

Also as the game nears the end, it becomes more chaotic, a massive step up in intensity that you are not quite prepared for and is not suited to a casual gamer.

Anyone who enjoyed the Arkham series needs to go into this with the Arkham series completely out of their mind. Plus the way the end some of the mini boss stages are just unnecessary and seems forced.

This game also makes Gotham Knights seem not so bad.

Disgraceful
lucas-kruuse6 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Seriously? Oneshooting Batman in the head was too easy and the other leaguers too have humiliating demises. This game has dishonored Kevin Conroy and his legacy! So I'm not buying the game. They could have done better than that to make the game successful. My love for DC is no more, NO MORE after they failed with their recent movies and now this abomination. So I highly won't recommend this game to anyone reading this review, sorry if my rant sounds too harsh but Warner Bros and Rocksteady has failed us fans dearly. This game doesn't deserve love or fun to play with, not after they dishonor Kevin.

9 years of development for this
martinmiklos12 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The gameplay is mindless, boring and repetitive. It sticks out, that the minds behind the original Arkham games are no longer part of Rocksteady, which is no wonder.

The idea to set this game in the Arkhamverse is probably the worst thing DC ever did. What was the point? They could have gotten away with the whole crapshow, if it was an alternate universe, created for this purpose. Even then, it would have been an obvious soulless cash grab, but everybody would have forgotten it in a year.

The "story" is utter trash, dialogues are cringe, and the characters are unbearable. Of course they had to switch Deadshot to a black guy despite he was like his original comic counterpart back in Arkham City, creating plot holes and cheap, forced explanations for it. The hall of Justice is decorated with pride flags, and the only member of the League who's treated with respect is of course Wonder Woman. She goes out like you would expect, but the rest of the team is just gets pissed on, literally.

And the worst is how they handled Batman. Not because he dies, (although I think it's pretty weak to kill off the main hero of this franchise in a weak spin-off and in the most disrespectful way) but the fact, that they brought him back for this. And yes, I know the title says "Kill the justice League", but it was not necessary at all to bring him back after the events of Arkham Knight. He had his ending.

He fought the biggest names trough the series, and they handle him like a mobile game boss, and gets defeated by these second hand villains, and for the final blow they put him on a park bench, gets lectured by Harley Quinn and then she guns him down. It's obvious that he's only part of this disgrace because they thought this would bring in more fans.

You can feel how the "writers" not only hate these heroes, but not even understand them. But probably they were not even trying to.

Thanks a lot.

Literally the worst video game of 2024
c-d-cmcewen23 March 2024
Rocksteady and WB Games have sunk to a new low. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is the worst game of the year. Not just because it's a live service game or that the gameplay is buggy. It disrespects Kevin Conroy's legacy and his role as Batman. And extremely bad sendoff to an actor who has voiced the character for 30+ years. And the rest of the Justice League, they hired the right actors to voice the right characters in the wrong game. They should be using DCAU actors. Brainiac's design was also pure stupidity. The story is what really adds insult to injury. To love, enjoy and defend this game is to have a death wish.

Suicide Squad kill the Justice league is fun
adityanautiyal-482865 February 2024
Yeah that's right the game is quite fun I have played it and liked it don't let all the reviews fool you. I really don't know why there is so much hate for this game. I would say give it a chance before giving your ultimatum. It's not a masterpiece but neither a trash game that media is showing it. You gotta play it to understand that. Each character has a different feeling. The story is way better then most of the games out there. Game runs smooth on my xbox series s didn't faced any technical glitches. Yeah there were few on launch but that has been fixed. I had fun hope you guys give it a shot.

Not as bad as people are saying
fwydq6 February 2024
To start, I don't normally review games, but I love to play them. So please bear with me . As everyone else, I was skeptical when purchasing this game. But I'm glad I did. True, this does not have the same fight mechanics as the Arkham series, but it is a pretty decent third person shooter. It does take a second to get used to some of the controls, but once you do, it can be pretty fun.in addition, to the fun of playing this game, the cut scenes are pretty fun too! They definitely keep you laughing the way the team interacts. I did write it at a 7 though because I will agree that some of the missions are monotonous. But it's also nice that you can swap between the characters and see who you prefer. If you still are in the fence to play this game, you should give it a go. Please don't let others make the decision for you. Give this game a shot.

its bad
blinkninja3 February 2024
9 years for a 9 hour game?

Really wish i knew what they were doing with all their time.

The writing and story is mediocre at best and disrespectful to source material at worst.

The combat is good, the movement needs tweaking, but otherwise it's a fun arcade-y third person looter shooter.

Gameplay loop is repetitive and tedious. Go here, escort/kill/protect/destroy, cutscene, repeat - sometimes they throw in modifiers like "grenades only" or "crit damage only)

The graphics are good, the music is good, the performances are really good despite the bad writing given to them.

Another money grab live service game, not worth the 70-100+usd price tag. You can buy better looter shooters for half the price.

The Game is really good but
braxtonhibbs-147164 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I personally really like the game, the gameplay is good, the graphics are good, but the servers are the only thing gameplay wise I've had an issue with, but I'm sure they will get it sorted. The thing I hate the most though is making it in the Arkham universe, they brought back arguably the best portrayal of Batman in any sort of media we've received just to kill him on a park bench all over again. Ik the game is "Kill the justice league", but the fact it's in the Arkham universe just feels like it wasted something that could've been really big and really unique in that universe. But gameplay wise it's a great game that has a cool transversal combat system.

Average, no more no less
Rayofsun718 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
As I said in the title of my review, this game is nothing more than average, now it has its perks, as someone who likes shooter games this one was definitely up my alley, and in truth yeah the story is sorta tedious and not gonna lie the combat can also get repetitive but the game itself is actually pretty fun, each character comes with their own play style which I feel is something games need to do more often, so far I've been switching between Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang, had a few encounters with the Justice League so far and I'm a few hours into the game but there's no doubt that it's a lot of fun to play, I'm really glad I decided not to listen to the critics, if you like DC or shooter games in general, this one is worth a shot.

Terrible game do not buy
pauldron3 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is the worst game in the arkham franchise that has come out so far, completely disrespecting what has been established before it. The fact that the suicide squad can kill the justice league by just shooting at them with bullets doesn't make much sense, the narrative is terribly written and worst of all batman hugely disrespected in this game, and many arkham looked forward to this game because of batman which I know is a major reason why people are buying this game. The way they handled batman's death in this game has to be the worst in video game history, and its definitly up there with Joel's death from the last of us part 2. Rocksteady has fallen from their pedistal in making great super hero games, I and many other people I am sure will no longer buy their future installments in the Arkham verse. This game has created irreverseble damage to that universe and to those characters, and since this is Kevin conroy's last preformance as batman I don't know why they would bring in to the project to just absolutly destroy the character that perfectly written in this first place.

You Failed us, Rocksteady.
ThatisnotSolidSnake15 April 2024
Oh, Rocksteady, you're a great studio for developing three critical acclaimed games and had the audacity to piss on Batman's body/Kevin Conroy's grave? It's been 9 years, and they want Batman to lose against the Suicide Squad. No ONE can take out Batman, he's a legendary martial arts expert and escape artist. Just like Arkham Knight, he saved Gotham and didn't lose to Scarecrow or the Knight. Ignoring the events of Gotham Knights, the World's Greatest Detective has been shot in the head by Quinn and disrespected Conroy's legacy for 30 years. Man, that is such an insult to the Arkham fans or Batman fanboys.

Gameplay is cringed. It's like a copy and paste from Fortnite. Just shooting enemies and bosses to win and it's gotten really repetitive. This is not a fighting or stealth game like the 3 three previous installments.

I guarantee this game isn't cannon. Deadshot was a white guy back in Arkham Origins and City, but how is he black in this game? And we all thought Joker died in City, but he's alive somehow in this game. Still doesn't make any sense.

If I were you, I would pretend this didn't exist and it's not part of the Arkham universe. They made 3 games with successful sales wise and SSKTJL killed the franchise. Go back and play the Arkham Trilogy just like the good old days and I promised it will make you feel better.

If you think my review isn't that helpful, it means you're defending this piece of trash that has no reason to exist.

Worst DC game in history
abofahad0065 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Since the first trailer 4 years ago when they made Harley quinn look like margot robbie and black deadshot

I know the game will fail

They have seven writers not the same level as pual dini

They didn't respect paul dini work the real writer the man who starts the arkham universe not like arkham knight team did

The game has no logic and doesn't make sense for example

  • SS

All members good best king shark except deadshot because this version was forced in the story

And as the title for JL same goes for SS

Everyone knows always member of SS can't survive the story

I recommend deadshot

  • deadshot

They did the worst race-washing in history

Arkham city floyd lawton the real deadshot

For 16 years according to Arkham universe time line doesn't make sense some random black dude out of nowhere claims to be the real Floyd Lawton where is he those 16 years

if they want to add a black character in the team they should have add bloodsport or bronze tiger or the original black deadshot will Evans

Assault on arkham deadshot is the best version he beat up the joker and saved his daughter

Not some random black dude with unknown green lantern rivalry

  • JL

Worst Jl if you look to the injustice version they could end them in 5 minutes

  • Brainiac

Worst brainiac if you look to other brainiac versions he didn't anyone help to invade the earth

  • Amanda waller

No cch pounder she's the best waller in history like Kevin conroy and Mark hamill

  • batman

Batman story ended in arkham knight has the best ending he shouldn't be in the game

Making batman a member in JL doesn't make sense if he could have joined during arkham asylum or arkham city time not after arkham knight

Him being brain washed by brainiac doesn't make sense didn't the joker try to do that during arkham knight story and failed he could break free from brainiac and help to beat brainiac

Batman ending the worst after his story begins in 2009 the orginal rockstady team didn't want to do this game they want to do man of steal game and batman beyond game

Batman death make everyone mad because is Kevin conroy he's batman for 32 years for many generations around the world

R. I. P Kevin Conroy A Hero Beyond batman

For us arkham fans arkham knight the true ending not this disaster game.

unfathomably awful
fartsmella273 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is absolutely the most disrespectful and outright terrible game ive ever witnessed. The missions are terrible, the story is extremely sloppy and cringe, and the character deaths for characters who have been around even since 2009 are extremely underwhelming and anti-climatic. Seeing how they decided to make the arkham games cannon to this game and then also decided to give arkham batman hands down the most underwhelming joke of a death ive ever seen in any game ever was just such a low blow to someone whos been playing the games since they were a kid. Dont even get me started on supermans death, it left everyone saying "wow thats it?" because how anti climatic and stupid it was. I would never spend any money on this garbage and i strongly recommend against even spending a dime on this joke of a video game.

Digging the hell out of this game.
sketchbookgeoff5 February 2024
Was skeptical about the gane but i love the Suicide Squad so gave it a chance. I am enjoying the hell out of it. Great graphics, fun game play, some of my favorite characters from Suicide Squad lore.

For those people complaining about the changes to Deadshot... I have been a fan of the character for a very long time and i can tell you the only bad Deadshot was the original Arkham Universe one.

Ignore the negative reviews... especially the ones where the people have not even played the game. Give it a shot and have some fun. I enjoyed the Arkham Universe but i dont care about the changes they made here to Batman... if they decide to continue on with the Universe, than this game just becaomes an alternate timeline_universe. Pretty simple.

It's not that bad.
jamestamisen6 February 2024
Personally I liked it. I thought the gameplay was a lot of fun and the visuals and graphics are great. However as the story progresses it gets a bit frustrating for me. To be completely honest, the concept and idea of killing the Justice League mind controlled by Brainiac is interesting and makes for a good story. However the execution and pacing of it all didn't really fit, and it felt pretty underwhelming and anticlimactic. By the second half of it, it felt pretty rushed. My biggest issue with the story is that it takes place in the Arkhamverse. The story would've been better it was a separate universe. If you are a fan of DC or the Batman: Arkham games, SSKTJL might just make you mad. If you're not really a hardcore DC or Arkham fan, I think you'll probably have a better time with the story than me. By the end of the game, I was left with this bittersweet taste in my mouth that didn't sit right with me. On a more positive note, the actual gameplay mechanics itself actually surprised me. The story may not have been that great but I found myself having an absolute blast playing these 4 characters and doing missions. It gets repetitive at times sure, but for me I never really got tired or sick of it I was having that much fun. This game is not gonna be for everybody and that's fine. For me, it's good. I don't believe this game deserves all the hate it gets. As a video game I loved it, as a story I did not.

Rocksteady's Ruin: A Batman Betrayal
taherbohra-0025715 February 2024
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League by Rocksteady is a travesty, a pitiful excuse for a game. They didn't just fail Batman; they mercilessly butchered the Dark Knight's legacy. The storytelling is an incoherent mess, and the way they handled Batman's demise is an insult to every fan who invested in this franchise. Rocksteady managed to strip away the essence of what made Batman great and turned it into a mockery. Spare yourself the agony and don't waste a dime on this pathetic excuse for a game. Batman deserved better, and so do you.

DONT BUY THIS GAME GAMEPLAY IS WORST STORY IS WORST AND THIS GAME IS DISAPPOINTING

karsonbehny2 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I do why this game gets so much hate. So what they killed off arkham batman. It's in the title. There is zero network issues too, i played seven hours and no network issues. The story is interesting. Movement is wonderful and the mechanics are great. This game gets too much hate for what it is. A pretty good action rpg looter shooter. Did i mention the voice acting. The voice acting is perfect. Yeah there are some not so funny jokes but still good. All the voices are spot on. So what I'm trying to say is if you like a game like destiny. Or just dc and arkham verse get this game. And get it now.

Not an Arkham game, looter shooter with bright colors
Air47_Entertainment30 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
As soon as I heard that this game was set in the Arkham verse I knew people were going to expect another Arkham style game and feel. However this is completely different, it's a loose style main story looter shooter. This game, without trying to give spoilers, is all about going around metropolis killing all the brainiac minions and leveling up the 4 main playable characters with killing the justice league as more of a side mission. Flash was a high speed chase with trying to get shots off before he zips away, GL was a no holds barred grudge match with him sending his constructs to kill you, Batman was a stage fight where you had to get a timed shot off and then unload at his face, Superman was by far the hardest as he was nearly everything combined into one fight. All that being said the boss fights, in my opinion playing on the hardest difficulty allowed at the start, were not that difficult. The only boss fights that are truly hard are brainiac's, which makes sense. However I feel like killing the justice league should've been harder as they are the world's greatest heroes. I would give this game a 7/10 based off the city of metropolis looking absolutely beautiful, each character has something different and unique about him or her, the character designs, and the fact that once you beat the main story there is miles more things to do to level up and face harder foes. I love the Arkham games for obvious reasons, personally I feel like Knight was the best one so you can take that into account.

This game is not for everyone and I understand that and that's all good with me. Does it "ruin the Arkham verse" and that Batman? I would say that I would've enjoyed Batman's story more if it wasn't tied to a version that was unstoppable for years in Gotham defeating every criminal that came in his way. I do want to say that if you love DC, the Justice League, the Suicide Squad, or just think it looks cool then give it a try. If you don't like it then cool at least you said you tried, just don't make assumptions based off what someone that hasn't even played it yet.

What a Disappointment
psgorio7 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I truly disliked this experience. Not as a whole but the live service aspect gave me such a sour taste for this game as to what it could have been that I'm forever going to be salty because of it as I once held the developer Rocksteady in such high regard. Now that they have been consumed by the dark side all we have left to do is roll with the punches in a hollow game that's filled with repetitive missions, combat and loot to an extent of insanity. The only thing holding this game somewhat together is the interesting story that adds some levity and depth to what's otherwise a very poorly constructed game. Even the controls are bonkers at times, asking you to hit a random combo of buttons to weaken certain enemy types or bosses that just feels manic and unnatural. But getting back to the only saving grace of this game for me. The story is pretty good for what it's worth and the team had kind of had a Guardians of the Galaxy like feel and humor surrounding the Suicide Squad. I did enjoy their banter and chemistry and felt that they achieved decent character development by the time the game's story wrapped. Braniac is an intriguing villain to boot and I thought was a good choice for this type of story and setting. However with that being said it's just a shame this is how the late, great Kevin Conroy had to be remembered as The Batman before he passed on. I'm sure this is not how he wanted his legacy of Batman to end, going out in such an underwhelming fashion. In fact this game and story is not considered canon to me in the Arkham-verse. Arkham Knight was his last great video game role as far as I'm concerned. This was Earth-2 Batman and friends in a sloppily crafted world. And speaking of world I did not think Metropolis could be so boring and dull even with the highly chaotic things transpiring. It just felt like all I was doing was going from point A to B and ignoring the silly side missions which were just copy/paste wash, rinse and repeat even with some of the familiar Riddler challenges scattered throughout which just felt tacked on with an all too familiar, been there done that with numerous repetitive riddles to undertake. And lastly but certainly not least, it is HIGHLY laughable that the devs think anyone in their right minds would continue this game after the credits roll and go on to defeat Braniac a total of 12 more times in this type of utterly tedious environment. Shame on you Rocksteady and even more shame on you WB Games. You have deeply failed this city.
