Was shot on location at two historic sites, The Schafer Jail (the second jail in the film) and The Fairview Lift Bridge and Cartwright Railroad Tunnel, in North Dakota.
The film was shot on location in Burleigh and McKenzie counties in North Dakota in August 2021.
The film was inspired by the book, 'End of the Rope', written by Dennis Johnson based on his research into the Charles Bannon case. Dennis was a native of the area and likely had family members involved in the incident. He and several of his family had minor roles in the film. Unfortunately, Dennis passed away before the premiere of the film. There is a dedication in the credits in his honor.
The main street set consisted of building facades erected in a field in Mckenzie County, ND. After filming concluded, they were removed to the Heritage Park in nearby Watford City.
