Christmas specials are supposed to be cheesy and full of surprise guest stars. This one definitely takes the idea to a new level of technical prowess with elaborate CGI backdrops. I'm fine with it, obviously everyone is looking like they are having fun and trying to spread Christmas cheer in a most troubling year.

Mariah has been really pushing the Christmas thing in the last few years and she really bashes it out of the park with this Christmas special. Basically, it's a series of music clips strung together with a plot skimpier than her costumes (but considerably less tight). Fans will love it. She is carefully arranged and lit in each scene and can still belt out a tune with a bit of electronic assistance.

Still, I can't help but feel they could have really gone all out with a different perspective and made a her a lonely, demanding and obnoxious diva who is mean to one and all and wants Christmas to be cancelled until she discovers and the importance of Christmas and family - sort of like The *itch Who Stole Christmas, if you get what I mean.

Vocals are amazing and as expected from an icon. MC looks flawless. Storyline is cheesy af, but isn't every Holiday Special? Watch it to gaze at MC's gorge face and wardrobe, stay for the her amazing voice. Don't watch it if you don't like MC or cheesy Christmas stuff.

This is awful. Unbearably awful. Who approved this?

Her fans who think she can do no wrong will rate it 10 out of 10.

I think with Apple budget plus Carey's purse, they could have done something incredible with the stages. Unfortunately you can tell this was done within perhaps a couple of days and a load of green screens.

In addition, it lacks perhaps a message of hope, especially after mentioning the "difficult year it's been" a couple of times (referencing covid).

Having said that, it's pure Mariah. It's self loving, it's cheesy, in fact it's the kind of Mariah cheesiness that made me laugh out loud, at how ridiculous it all was! But in an honestly funny way.

This woman is just here, she's around, she does her thing, she minds her own business, and millions love her for that.

Amazing vocals, especially if you pay attention to the melisma prowess.

I'll watch it every year.

I have nothing personal against Ms. Carey, but this show was just about the worst Christmas show I have ever seen. Where to start? It had Charlie Brown and the Peanuts crowd in it. Why? This show was a mess. If it wanted to.be a family show, do not have your obviously fake breasts the focal point throughout most of it. Why the overtly sexy costumes? I would not let a child of any age watch it. In an era when we are dealing with isolation, increased teen suicides, and general depression, what was she thinking showcasing her body in a way that literally, for me, became the focus of every scene she was in. It seemed to have a family theme, but her titillating costumes and not so great all over the scales singing made it feel confusing - were we in a strip bar, or a self proclaimed COVID Christmas fairy tale? I forced myself to watch it until the end, but felt sort of like taking a shower when it was over. Slightly nauseous, too. It was just bad. VERY BAD! What was she thinking? Showcasing her aging body and once great, but not in this, vocal range. In retrospect, made her look extremely self indulgent and not quite attached to reality. What should and COULD have been uplifting, was simply a fairy tale gone wrong! Apple TV? You bear some of the blame - either you did not pay attention, or worse, catered to a very low common denominator in allowing this once shining star to embarrass herself in this terrible unholy mess. Again, with apologies, Ms. Carey? If you do it again next year? If we need comfort because things are still bad? Please pay attention to this and change it up to a comforting lullaby, more understatement and way less naked skin. And sing like the Angel I know you can do.

Yes, it is definitely extra and over the top....duh!, it is Mariah after all.

What makes Mariah special is that she is not an "out of touch" over the top...NO WAY..she knows exactly how extra she can be, and she capitalizes on it in a cheeky, "I am able to make fun of myself" way. That IS her magic..

Take that fact, add her love of christmas...and top it off with some great vocals and gorgeous looks...folks...that is the recipe for a Magical Mariah Christmas!!

This feels like an old school christmas special...the kind you watch year after year...

The bonus here is her original song, "Christmas Time is in the Air(Again)", which may turn me into a Mariah fan or a lamb, if thats what its called.

The song selection was great, it was all new vocals recorded in 2020, and on top of that the set and the outfits were beautiful. The plot was very iffy though and the dialogue as well. Next time, more attention should be given to those parts!

Honestly, I tried watching this tripe but couldn't help the bile from rising to my throat. Will someone please tell her to stop screeching and put on clothes that fit?

Very cute, amazing music, beautifully shot. No real plot to speak of, but a great music special with dazzling visuals. A perfect thing to have on playing in the background of Xmas festivities.

I love Christmas, but if I hear "All I want for Christmas is you one more time I may have to rip my ears off."

Mariah was once gifted with a beautiful voice reaching many octaves with ease, this performance wasn't even live so they could do as many takes as Ms. Carey pleased and record this production semi-live and do a re-edit afterwards, but instead of doing a real performance, Mariah decided to take the easy route of playbacking / trainwrecking this whole event through to the end, and even playbacking isn't well performed, she should be less focussed on her weird hair-do and consider a real sincere performance next time. She's merely a faint shadow of what she once was... a huge diva with a devine voice. I have a weak spot for Christmas especially in this COVID crisis, i can't just decided what i hate most, the COVID crisis during Christmas or this poorly executed performance.

Who is this Christmas special for? What audience? For kids- Mariah looks too sexual her dresses are so revealing. For adults -its too cliche and boring. Absolutely no feeling s after watching this. No Christmas spirit at all. All artificial. Would not recommend watching this. Waste of time.

I am happy after watching this. Really. This short movie is full of messages. I love it.

I just wanted to watch a cute christmas themed show and I don't know why I ended up watching this whole thing.

Just gonna tell you what to expect from this: it's a 40+ minutes music video about her new album basically, with a lot of Apple products every now and then.

Ah! If you want to see Mariah Carey wearing super tight clothes and very compressed breast, than it's your show.

The best thing to come out of 2020! It is perfect! Everyone needs some holiday spirit especially this year more than any! I will watch this every year...love that Mariah re-recorded her songs & the new version of Oh Santa with Arianna & Jennifer is AMAZING!

Is not an oversexed, egocentric diva. If you were blessed with a marvelous singing voice and you want to share it with the world, perhaps you should do it with dignity, reverence and class.

Just more evidence of Mariah Carey clinging to a career that should have been to bed more than a decade ago. She and her music really are the worst part of the Christmas season. Why would any one think that this trash needs to be made into any type of production and why do they still have gainful employment?

My kids made me turn it off after 10 minutes. Hair, makeup and wardrobe so over-the-top she looks ridiculous. What we fell in love with 25 years ago was a cute girl next door singing a lovable Xmas tune frolicking in the snow before all the vanity and crazy took over. Making the poor director only shoot you from your right side... eyeroll. I'm sorry but the voice is gone, those high notes a distant memory. Just please stop.

Mariah Carey is my favorite singer for Christmas carols. She's such a heartwarming and cheerful voice in these worst of times.

So much for a family show more like an advertisement for plastic breasts stupid boring waste of money and ridiculous entertainment so bad it's embarrassing.

I think this will become a new Christmas tradition. Lighthearted fun, Amazing vocals, The best Christmas song of all time and Mariah Carey. What more could you want at Christmas?

An old diva in revealing outfits, trying to showcase her old diva screeching.

Not suitable for family entertainment -- and there's NO way she could/should have let her own kids see it.

Belongs more in a nasty old strip joint than on TV, in a "Botox Gone Bad" special. Ack.
