I'm left speechless
bvtxmvn14 November 2022
Never has a game left me with such awe. Left in goosebumps I sit here thinking about the last hours I poured into this beautiful game. With the same set of goosebumps that help tight to my skin the entire playthrough. The character development had my face stained with a permanent smile. The story had me engrossed and excited. The gameplay was far more snappy and quick, heavy hitting and impactful. The world is so immersive and real. The lessons learned and the story presented is one that will forever stick. I know as a certainty that this game won't leave my mind for quite some time.

This is undoubtedly the best game I have ever played.

Peak of Story Telling Achieved
shahrukhanjum-729969 November 2022
This game is nothing less than an emotional roller coaster ride, I won't spoil the story but very few Hollywood movies can match the story telling. Story, Gameplay, Graphics all were perfect, the same perfect formula of 2018 game God of War was used and you don't need to change what you have already perfected, Don't watch any YouTube reviews go in the game blind and experience every new character for the first time, its a must buy for first day and playstation have told us that they are still the king of making single player story games and no studio can come even close to playstation when it comes to making a great story.

A masterful craftsmanship exceeds any expectations
mertafor14 November 2022
Now I understand how Sony was convinced to release first GOW (2018) on PC. Honestly if I wouldn't have a Playstation, I could be looking to get a PS4 or PS5 asap. Because this is not only one of the greatest title of Sony, but also it's probably the best blockbuster in recent memory. Even first Avengers or Endgame didn't give me this sort of satisfaction to be honest, nowhere close. Such a complete and epic storytelling, vastly increased depth in character development, dialogues and actions make sense, unforgettable moments, perfected an already great gameplay with highly improved graphics. And most of all, face animations are probably the most realistic ones. Especially Freya and Kratos seemed like almost real people.

Before the release, I've been thinking this is going to be a huge DLC as some claimed but I can assure it's entirely something else. Maybe first one or two hours you'll have that feeling briefly but be patient, it only gets better and better along the way. They've already created an amazing game engine and strong gameplay with first one, apparently it gave developers an opportunity to focus on storytelling, art direction and additional characters and oh boy, it really paid off.

No need for any spoilers. And I highly recommend avoid any gamesplay videos at all costs. You'll want to see and feel every detail for yourself. I'm very careful using overused words like masterpiece and epic, and I'm really careful to rate a title 10/10. But this game deserves everything.

Finally, thanks to Sony. Single player gaming should never die because such a perfection is only possible by single player titles. And thanks to Santa Monica. This game is a "naughty" statement to other Sony Studios about how a sequel should be made. This is a must-have!

MASTERPIECE (Read my whole review to understand why some people are rating it 0 or 1)
runrunrun-4775511 November 2022
God of War Ragnarok is a MASTERPIECE. It has met every fans expectation and by far surpassed it. It improves everything on what made God of War 2018 so great. I am having a time of my life playing this game. Graphics are out of this world. The best graphics I have seen in any game to this date. The Gameplay remains unbeatable. So satisfying with every click of a button and you can feel all those attacks with haptic feedback on the ps5 controller. The pure bliss of all the variety of attacks, combos and moves. Different ways to slaughter your enemies. Oh boy If I sit and state every great thing this game offers it will take me an eternity. This game is the sole worthy of the title "Masterpiece" and "Game of the Year 2022" atleast in my and many MANY others opinions.

Reviews speaks for themselves on how great this game is. Any rating you see you see on amazon that's 1 star is review bombing. Same goes for Metacritic "User score" everyone who gave it a 0 or 1 is just trolling. I am stating all this because I was also once following these rating of trolls and was mislead so many times until I got to know for myself, So be aware. You can easily see these trollers pattern; They will rate it 0 and will go on to say how the game is just "DLC" "Overrated" "good but not that many improvement for a ps5 game" "This game is joke wasted my money" and blah blah blah. These people are just haters and trollers and not to be taken seriously as they have never played the game nor know anything about it. They just know how to go on internet and rate anything 0 or 1.

Now if you are new to the series and want to get into it. I recommend you to play God of War 2018 first and before that Watch a video on Youtube by Playstation Grenade with the title "God of War The Story So Far... Everything You Need To Know (2018)" This video catches you up on previous 1-3 God of War games and spoils nothing of God of War 2018. God of War 2018 is also called God of War 4 among many fans of the series as it is indeed a sequel so watching and understanding everything in the recap video I mentioned above is a must. After You have watched and understood the video, you are all set to hop in God of War 2018. Now if you loved God of War 2018 after playing it than Get God of War Ragnarok cuz this game is a sequel to the 2018 one. God of War Series is my favorite game of all time in my 20 years of gaming. No game has met and by far surpassed my expectations like God of War did. That's why I HIGHLY recommend this series to everyone, give it a chance. Trust me you won't regret it. You have the word of a loyal fan.

P. S. Short Story on how I became a loyal and did hard fan of the series. I took the same path as I have mentioned above. I watched the recap video than Played 2018 and my god I LOVED IT. I got soo hooked to the series that I played the first 1-3 God of War games myself by buying Playstation Plus premium with free trial for 7 days and finishing all thoes titles in just 4 days. After that I played God of War 2018 again for the second time and finished the main story from start to finish in just 2 days to be all ready and prepared for Ragnarok. I am so glad that I caught up on the previous games. This game and journey will forever be very close and special to me.

Thank you for reading 😊

Quite possibly the best game that has ever existed.
QuantumVoxel10 November 2022
After the success of the 2018 reboot of God Of War, I found it very hard to even fathom what could possibly be improved and was concurrently worried that a sequel would water down the brilliance and poignance of the first.

Not only were my concerns alleviated, it improved upon the sequel in every imaginable way. The score by Bear McCreary came back with vengeance and introduced new themes providing the emotive path that would be tread throughout the story.

This is similar to the 2018 sequel but at the same time wholly different, with more characters to meet and (what seems) a vastly larger world, you are more immersed and really do feel part of the world and story arc at large; the ambient sound and tasteful use of 3D audio also completely encompasses you in whatever realm you end up in.

Speaking of realms, there's more of them and they're stunning! Each has their own dynamic and tale just like the first but this goes far more in depth.

Ragnarok has an incredibly written story, worthy of Oscar's (let alone game awards). Speaking of which, Christopher Judge as Kratos, Sunny Saljic and the whole host of incredibly talented cast really showed off what is possible with acting in the game industry; their performances are all award worthy, the story is award worthy, the soundtrack...

Many may think my title is a stretch, but, this game really does set the bar for years to come and in my opinion (at the moment at least) nothing comes even close to what the team at Santa Monica Studios has created.

Bravo.

it was perfect. Perfect. Everything, down to the last minute details
hfreinoso9 December 2022
What Homelander has said? "It was perfect... Perfect. Everything. Down to the bone." I love this video game. I am a huge God of War fan and I love PlayStation video games. Uncharted, Jak and Dexter, Ratchet and Clank, Twisted Metal, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, Stray, Little Big Planet, Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, etc. I can keep going. I love everything about this game, the story, acting, characters, cinematography, controls, and music. My god, this video game is perfect. God of War deserves the Game of the Year. I love both T. C Carson and Christopher Judge as Kratos, they are the best, at what they do. I love this game and this game really does deserve to be Game of the Year. 10/10. God of War never lets me down. PlayStation/Sony, you done it again folks. That's why you guys are the best. More games like these Playstation. More like these. 10/10.

I feel complete
brianbuettler6 December 2022
This is one for the books. I've been playing god of war since its inception and this is the most satisfying installment in the series by far and that's saying a lot. The journey Kratos has took over 8 games defies description but I will do my best to give it justice. This man has became a God by slaughtering the Pantheon. You sympathesize with Kratos, knowing he's justified in all his actions. Sure, they're out of anger and malice but that ill-will is well deserved. Then we have the Norse version of the games and I'm taken aback by this much more reserved and wise protagonist. His redemption arch sets a bar I don't think another game will top for a long time. To watch him become a father and a fully-realized God is a sight to see. Anyone who has a Playstation I urge you this is a series that cannot be missed.

What an incredible sequel!
eliasbergrikstad9 November 2022
This is god of war's (2018) doom eternal situation. A really good game reboots a beloved franchise and gets a sequel after four years that takes the original and improves on everything. Still this game is unique enough from the original to feel completely new.

From beginning to end you are enthralled into the 9 beautifully realized realms as the story takes you from amazing spectacle to amazing spectacle. This game is never predictable and it makes for a rollercoaster i wanna ride plenty more times. The acting performances, the character models and camera work make every cutscene something you should never skip. This truly is another sony masterpiece.

Best game ever ?!?!
bensam-7392320 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There's too many good things to say about this game. For me this definitively wins game of the year over the great Elden Ring. Although gameplay is just built upon 2018 is still feels fresh and has the players always on his toes. Opposed to the 2018 game, this one has plenty of enemy variety. Where this game really sets itself apart is story and characters. I now think of kratos at a top 10 character in fiction. The story is great and connects everything in a way for the most impactful ending for kratos. He finally becomes a loved god and has healthy relationships around him. Even though I wanted to absolutely tear apart Odin and Thor, the way the game went made the story much better. And I still got to choke Heimdall to death. My one complaint would be that ragnarok should've contained multiple levels and Thor's final fights should've been bigger in scale, maybe even having them fight on Jormandgandrs back. The soundtrack ramps up the epicness of Ragnarok though and even Hozier makes a song for this soundtrack. Bear did an amazing job with it. Cory and Eric did an amazing job with this game and deserves a lot more recognition than it will ever get due to it being a PlayStation exclusive and people being addicted to cod and nothing else. I live the twist in this game although I saw it coming and had since watching a YouTube theory on it back in 2018. Can't believe it guessed it. Hurst is amazing as Thor and I prefer this to mcu even. I enjoyed that they went all out with the 2 realms we hadn't visited yet. The Thor revive screen was fun and creative. The spear was a great weapon and added new thoughts to a players combat. So many touching scenes, fun fights, lores, discoverable areas, great visuals, and great dialogue make this game. Kratos and Atreus connection is amazing, mimir is a great brother, freya compliments Kratos, Odin is a business dictator and Thor his hammer. I'm going to have to think whether this is the best game ever made, but it is definitely worthy of being in the conversation.

God of War Ragnarök
graystripe3889810 November 2022
A fantastic and strong continuation of its predecessor, God of War Ragnarök is not afraid to take unexpected turns, or slow its pace for you to fully explore an environment. It has the same upgrading system as before, but with better armor, in my opinion. Atreus is a little bit older now and it's so great to see everybody reprise their magnificent roles.

I don't want to give away too much in this review, but it's definitely worth buying. One of the best looking games on PS5. It'll definitely be a game of the year contender with Elden Ring. If you're new to the series, I recommend you start with God of War (2018) If you have the dedication, you could always start from the very first one. They're all on the PS+ collection. I still have yet to beat this newest entry, but I wanted to spread the good word as soon as possible: Ragnarök is here and it is beautiful.

Wow, just incredible
Mr_Sev12 November 2022
I've played the first game and this is a game that you need to have played the first to get the most from.

The moment you play the game you realise something special is unfolding, everything has been refined in a way you can't help but smile. From the cutscenes to the action, the characters and their development all of it is top notch, delivered by artists at the top of their game.

If this is the last ever god of war game then it will be remembered as the best one (certainly by myself at the least)

You owe it to yourself to play it but even if you can't you can watch the story online, trust me when I say you won't regret it.

More of the same, but somehow worse
alexanderhuissel21 January 2023
Good news first: God of War: Ragnarök inherits a lot of the things that made God of War (2018) great: solid gameplay mechanics, fun combat, engaging boss battles, and beautiful graphics, to name a few. Yet, it does not really improve anything and barely adds something new. I really would've liked to see more variety in enemy types and puzzles. I find it get's a bit repetitive after a while.

However, my biggest gripe with this game is its story. I think it's badly written. While it is clear what threat our heroes are facing and what's at stake, it is never outlined what steps our heroes have to take to reach their goal(s) and what challenges they will have to face. You are only ever told the very next step. So you don't know how far our heroes have progressed, how much time they have left, etc. Consequently, there's not much suspension build-up, and it's hard to feel a sense of joyful anticipation because you just don't know what's coming (except for the task at hand). Also, I personally felt, the story was really long-winded. In the last third, I really had to force myself to play and finish the game.

I could ramble on about the story and the characters, but let's stop here. It's not all bad. The story has its great moments and interesting characters. It just could've been better.

All in all, despite its shortcomings, God of War: Ragnarök is a good game, and, for the most part, an enjoyable experience.

A decent game, but a terrible God of War game
niallh-6609225 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Where do I even start. I dont think I've ever felt this way with a game before, and I can only assume its due to the hype from 2018, but I genuinely hated nearly every moment I spent playing this game. This game was an incredible disappointment after all the hype. Some could argue nothing would ever live up, but somehow I think if Corey Barlog was still in charge we would've gotten a very different experience.

The ending was rushed, Atreus sections were shoved in endlessly, the puzzle feature is made for a toddler to play, the combat and UI is so similar it seems like its the same as the last game and the only changes they made makes it worse to play. The new weapon is only given over 2/3rds of the way through the game so you basically spend the entire game playing with the tools you had last time. But the biggest issue by far is the story.

The story is a confused, rushed, and bloated mess that meanders all over the place rather than being genuinely interesting and compelling. Its an incredible step down from the quality of the 2018 game and I am genuinely amazed so many people consider it to be so good. If 2018 was a breath of fresh air, Ragnarok feels like a punishment.

Kratos is basically the same character he in 2018, and Atreus is still an annoying kid, only this time you're forced to keep playing the game as him instead of Kratos. THIS will go down in my opinion as one of the worst decisions in gaming sequel history, you put time into developing a playable Atreus rather than a usable Mjolnir.... I just dont know what to say anymore, the phrase common sense feels like its lost all meaning when talking about this game.

I had a list of some smaller things I was most excited for after getting into Norse mythology in 2018, and I have now updated the list with what my reaction was when it was showed/not showed here.

1: Getting to use Thors Hammer - didnt get to use it. This is God of War and you dont let us use Thors hammer in the Norse saga?.... I will never understand this. Feels like a decision made by people who have never played a God of War game in their lives and it baffles me that this wasnt added to this game.

2: Fighting Thor - kind of early so a bit of a letdown how easy it was (didnt feel that way about Balder at all), then half assed at the end before unceremoniously killed by Odin. Just the end to a disappointing portrayal that seems very disconnected from what we heard about him previously. They wanted to make him sympathetic so they sacrificed the cool aspect of him to make him 'deep'. And it really doesnt work for me.

3: Seeing Asgard - just looks like a farming town despite the previous game teasing Asgard with rooms lined with Gold. In GoW 2018 Mimir literally says in a golden walled room "I'd recognise Odins lavish tastes anywhere". So now that we know he lives in a crappy wooden hut that seems just a little bit silly.

4: Meeting Odin - How is this the Odin we've teased up until now? He genuinely feels like he was written by someone who didnt play the first game. We were told in the last game that Odin lost his eye when Mimir tricked him with the Well of Knowledge, and yet now its just that he looked into a crack. Why? Because he had to be a nice guy? He just comes across like a New York mob boss, im surprised you didnt make him say "Capisce", it was so out of place.

5: Fighting Surtr - didnt happen, Surtr turned into the Dude from The Big Lebowski because haha.

6: Meeting Fenrir - became pointless, just used as a teleport plot device. Felt like a Marvel or Star Wars movie at this point adding in things you recognise despite them making no sense. As a Norse mythology fan (partly due to the previous game) I can safely say you did a terrible job adapting it.

7: Meeting Skoll and Hati - showed the trailer scene and then did nothing with them... Seemed like trailer hype for nothing. Yet another 'hey guys, you recognise this?' moment.

8: Getting some OG God of War epic scale action set pieces/moments - none. Was this even a God of War game? 2018 did it with Jormungandr and undead Thamur, or even moments like Kratos flipping the realm travel room. But here? It feels so uninspired it's painful to watch.

9: Seeing where the story goes - apparently nowhere so I guess thats awesome.

All in all it was probably the most disappointed gaming experience I've ever had. I cant pretend the game is terrible by any means, because it isnt. But to act like its some masterpiece or in any way close to the incredible game they made in 2018 is just insanity. I have no idea how so many came away from this game with a positive perception of it. This game couldve been so much more and after the years of excitement I feel so deflated its insane. I wish I never got excited for it in the first place and I definitely wont get another one.

Groundbreaking game
nelsonkc11 November 2022
This video game is revolutionary and has mastered combat in gaming maybe in history and the story is tipped over the top with action and emotion this has a almost positive chance to win goty. This game will live in gaming history forever. I highly recommend to get it and give it a try for this is the pinicle of gaming for possibly years to come and has many hours this game does not cut corners and has plenty of time for the story to play out and doesn't cut short and the one thing wrong with god of war 2018 was there were not enough gods but this game exceeds in this there are gods left and right friendly and not. Highly recommend.

Not sure how they did it
Foxx141 December 2022
But they did.

Graphics are awesome. Voice acting superb. Gameplay is excellent. But my top two favorite things they have done is the capture of the emotion in not only Kratos but everyone else including Atreus. The second thing is level design. Just completely fun and entertaining to explore. Even if you pay double the retail price for this game it is worth every penny. That's all I have without giving away too much.

Duplicated to meet minimal character requirement.

This game took part of my soul
hashims-188707 December 2022
Am glad that I exist in this game era ... Thank you to every one who participated in such a masterpiece.

Am not young and I told my kids this will be my last game that am going to play. And what a closure.

Every aspect of the game is mizmorizing. The story, graphics, game mechanics and the sound track.

The dialogues are funny and sad at the same time it's a sweet agony. So relatable for a man fighting his fate as we all are, trying to overcome our own demons and not to be sorry for our actions but trying to be better...

The only take away from ragnarok is I thought it's going to be like god of war in the Greek myth that consist of 3 parts ... And I don't think there will be another part after this one. And I hoped for more epical final fight.. not that it's not epic ending but a little more engaging and unconventional it was close to any other major fight in the story. Having said that still this game is a solid 10 out of 10.

Just for the info am writing this while listening to Raeb's Lament....

Definition of GotY
razvanpometcu19 November 2022
This game is brilliant. It changed a lot the way to play and its difficulty, the puzzles were much more complicated, and although the game from 2018 seemed to have everything and if it had appeared it would have had nothing to add, I was wrong, however, I have nothing more to say about the characters who were perfect, the voice acting was also perfect, the game's graphics, structure and the story was brilliant. In addition to this, in the previous game I really liked that father-son relationship and how it works from the beginning, and in the new game we see the same thing where Atreus is in his teenage years and these problems of finding out who he is confuses Kratos it was the perfect game to end a franchise and I hope to see how the next projects will look like.

Extraordinary
keithsreed-185-2957558 December 2022
This is the definition of masterpiece. I have not enjoyed the story of a game this much since the first time I played The Last of Us... it is truly comparable and I mean that with the greatest of respect to both games.

And while the storytelling & plot get all the press, the rest of the game is also so admirable - graphics, soundtrack, voiceovers, mechanics... I wish I could shake the hands of the production team but that would take weeks! If any of them ever read this please know that you created something that brought me immense joy. Thank you so much.

Please play this, you will gain from it.

One of a kind
nicholasgray-2814121 November 2022
The sheer quality of story telling and character development has left me lost for words wishing there was more to experience, mixed with the depth of combat and environmental detail all I can say about this game is it is one of a kind. Phenomenal, simply a masterpiece.

Following on from 2018s god of war I was left with incredibly high expectations for this game and to no surprise it was everything I hoped for and met every one of them, peak storytelling that I struggle to find a comparison in even the best of Hollywood movies, soundtrack left me with goosebumps at every change of song. Characters 10/10 story 10/10 graphics 10/10 soundtrack 10/10. Simply Perfect.

Sony never disappoints (almost)
izzodiego17 November 2022
As a fan of almost all Sony's exclusives this one is no exception at all.

The game had me up almost everything day until 1 am as I tried to sneak a few hours between the tight schedule I'm in such as work, university and gym, just to wake up at 5 am almost every morning.

The story, the character development, the music and the gameplay. It all resembles a MASTERPIECE. I had a hard time when a left the game to sleep or do other stuff, and that really means something nowadays in gaming for me.

Now what's s left it's to explore this wonderfully crafted world to further enjoy myself.

It's the first time I took time to write a review for a game as well, hope somebody finds this interesting enough to invest a few hours in the game.

This review it's not a technical one, it is just to show how much this meant for me and I'm sure to many other players from around the world.

Best regards to all.

A really good game but just as one miniscule problem
Rayofsun7112 November 2022
All right yes there is no doubting that this game is absolutely amazing, love the graphics, love the storytelling and most of all how smoothly it runs on PS5, the only miniscule problem that I have with the game is that on my first hour of the game the length of the cutscenes took up a good chunk of that time, I fully understand that it is part of the story and a very good one at that so I can definitely deal with it, again this is a very miniscule problem but that is quickly solved with the amazing gameplay and scenery I know it isn't open world, would've been cool if it was and keep in mind this game is not for everyone but to those who decide to play it, you're in for something special.

Good, but not compared to GoW 2018.
hasansevik11 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Firstly, I don't understand how someone can give a game 10/10 yet add "there are some flaws".

Secondly, the title of my review is simple: if this were a standalone game and we'd never come across another like it, it'd probably be an 8/10. But this is both a sequel to an already amazing game and this was specifically made to be awesome on the PS5, which is an incredible console. On both points it's a let down.

Now, onto my review.

I'll keep it simple and make my points in...well, point form.

The good:
  • storyline. Not great, but still pretty good.

  • voice acting. Amazing again, although at times a fake Kratos does some bits during the side missions, which is...odd.

  • weapons. Great weapon mechanics once again, and even better with the addition of a new one.

  • length. Yes, there are A LOT of side quests, but let's be honest: no one plays a game only for the main story narrative. Besides, the side quests give you a break from the heavy main story.

The bad:
  • combat. Don't get me wrong, the new moves are cool. But it's infuriating all too often. The regular dudes are harder than the bosses because they don't stumble at all while you're beating them to a pulp, and they just whack you with a stick (no, literally, a stick) and you stumble.

  • not enough Kratos-time. Playing Atreus is fun, but not if it's nearly half the game. And his combat isn't great.

  • the menu interface. Sure, looks spiffy, but I've got a 75 inch 4k screen and I feel like the words take up a third of the screen.

  • combat. Did I mention how bad it is? Yeah. You evade and get hit. The indicators are in the middle of the screen, so you have to look at the actual arrow tip itself (in GoW 2018 the arrows were also where the enemies actually were). (I can't tell you how many times I've let an enemy hit me just to figure out where they're coming from.)

The ugly:
  • for a PS5 game, it looks like an early PS4 game. The scenery is beautiful, but the characters are two dimensional. They look... Flat, or something. No skin tone, armour looks plastic, even the blades look like cardboard.

  • Muspel is boring. GoW 2018 was fun when in both Muspel and Niflheim. But in this there's only Muspelheim, and it's not fun.

  • some side characters are terrible. I hate Ratatoskr, and Lunda is annoying. I know she was brought in to replace the Huldra brothers, but honestly, she gets on my nerves.

  • Freya is... Well, let's see. Condescending. Patronising. Has a superiority complex. Never apologises for her mistakes. Blames EVERYONE. Asks for an opinion, but then cuts them off mid-sentence and tells them "Enough!"
  • the writing leaves a lot to be desired. Kratos goes back to hating his son, then trusting him, then not, then lying to him, then angry that his son doesn't tell him EVERYTHING. The pacing doesn't feel right.

Here's what I think happened here:

  • the makers, director, etc were pushed to getting this game out before Christmas, and so the combat, storyline, the visuals, even some of the voice acting, was rushed. Dialogue didn't fit in at times.

  • Cory Barlog knew they wanted this game to be the end of Kratos in Norse mythos, but knew he couldn't pull it off in a) one game, and b) within the shorter timeline. So he gave the reins up. As a result, the game suffers and we all have to deal with it.

  • Sony wanted their product, regardless of the outcome. The first was a success, so the second will be as well. But this game is a poor imitation of the first.

As I said, if this was a game on its own, I probably would give it 8. But compared to its former title, it pales.

Sorry, Santa Monica. If there's another GoW, I probably won't buy it if Cory isn't the director.

Held back by Glaring Issues
muhammagaming26 June 2023
The game is an absolute wonder in terms of world crafting and beauty in graphics. The characters are very well done and the story is absolutely intriguing from the start. The combat is much like its predecessors but with a lot more combos and experimenting. That said however, there are glaring issues in the story which show signs of lazy writing and rushed story beats. Many plot points and details from the first game are never expanded upon in this game and many character motivations (mainly Freya) are quickly abandoned for story convenience. Many major threats and enemies like Odin or Thor whose immense power is alluded to in the first game, are lackluster and boring. This game's narrative simply could not live up to the hype and worldbuilding its predecessor built for it. The ending, While I won't get into too much conveys this perfectly. The time travel story element is never expanded upon is just an a**pull and the entire ending sequence boils down to a blackout, where you the player do not get to see anything. The combat is more fleshed out and gives you a lot more experimentation. That said, however, coming from the previous game's uninteresting enemies and most notably the absence of cool finishers and set pieces (think the god of war 3) God of war Ragnarok does not address these issues either. One thing I greatly wish they improved upon was exploration. Exploration is largely the same, while the levels are more fleshed out, they are empty and void of any interesting characters apart from the same souls providing fetch quests and the enemies of course. Some side bosses do have a sliver of that energy found in pre reboot God of war. Needless to say, If you did not like the combat in the previous game, there is not much for you here in God of War Ragnarok. Lastly, this game is clearly a PS4 game. Looking at exclusive PS5 games like Demons Souls or the new Final Fantasy 16, this game pales in comparison. The art direction is wonderful, cinematography and dialogue are great, but ultimately this game was a victim to what the notion it's predecessor built for it. In conclusion, God of War Ragnarok showcases impressive world crafting and graphics, but suffers from lazy writing, rushed story beats, and unexplored plot points. The lackluster enemies, disappointing ending, and unchanged exploration further detract from its overall experience. While the combat sees some improvements, it fails to reach the level of excellence set by its predecessor and other exclusive PS5 titles. Collapse.

Amazing game

Warning: Spoilers
Such a good game. The first few minutiae of the game got me hooked immediately. The new part of the game where you can get shields is amazing and clever and the new mechanics as Atreus is great. Storytelling is amazing graphics and dialogue and even little things like lip syncing is perfect. The realism is just amazing and the textures of the game is great and the puzzles are great so not too hard and not too easy that's also the same as the boss fights but a bit harder. Haven't cams across a single bug yet and the amount of thing that you can discover are great so overall it's and amazing game and you should definitely play it.

Unmatched

This has to be the best game I've ever played. From the story and dialogue to the combat. Seamlessly switching between the two. I have never played a game this polished and emotionally moving. Life can get hard and rough sometimes and the fact that I can sit down and become completely immersed in a world with lore and family compassion and badass destruction, It truly is unmatched to any game I've played. This is an incredible feat accomplished in the gaming world. To all the Devs, Studio and Actors on this team we salute you. 10/10, congrats to the team on this masterpiece. Thank you, thank you.
