Charles Band won't STOP
dcmackdon9 November 2020
I love Charles Band, so i automatically give it 4 stars. Honestly, nothing here. This is his third movie (short film really) he has put out during covid lockdowns. It's just Barbie (Cody Cameron) and Kendra (Robin Sydney) talking and being ditzy, while supposedly watching footage on TV. Here he spliced together scenes from old movies as usual, here it was 'The Day Time Ended' and 'Space Thing' and using ridiculous voice overs. There is nudity (from the old films) and silly fun. If you hoping to see Barbie and Kendra nude, it doesn't go further than their skimpy outfits, just like the other 2 films. One thing is Charles Band is figuring out a way to keep working and put out product. However you may think of it. The end basically says there will be a fourth. He won't stop.

Millenial Coronavirus Comedy?
selfdestructo22 June 2023
I feel like Full Moon and Charles Band are really hitting rock bottom here... and that's saying something!

First of all, this is hardly a "movie," clocking in at 49 minutes (and WOW did I have a problem staying awake). It consists of "host" segments with the titular Barbie and Kendra, but the remainder of the, er, film is old movie footage (two movies senselessly spliced together) that is dubbed with more, er, hip and current dialogue. I realize other movies and shows have experimented with this technique, but I couldn't help but be reminded of the infinitely superior, clever, intelligent, and FUNNY minds behind MST3K and Rifftrax. They don't flat-out dub movies like this does, but the structure of Barbie & Kendra Storm Area 51 are eerily reminiscent of something previously done much, much, much better. That fact may or may not have factored in to my white hot hatred of this rather short foray.

I didn't find one second of this "movie" even mildly amusing. Worse still, one of the movies they dub is some grade-Z sci-fi skin flick, where I was SUPER curious what was actually being said! The dialogue presented was, frankly, insulting.

After watching the first 5 minutes of the two stars/hosts of this hot mess act like morons, I literally said out loud, Do these chicks get naked? (They don't). They are totally insufferable, but only appear sporadically to annoy you. Problem is, IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER! Maybe someone younger (and dumber) would find something of amusement. The running time alone shows a lack of commitment. Jeez, at least take the sleazy sci-fi movie, and run with it. In the other movie they dub an "Alexa" character, which is as dumb as it sounds.

Barbie & Kendra Storm Area 51
jboothmillard3 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I became an official voter for the Razzies, aka the Golden Raspberry Awards, at the beginning of 2020, and I was looking forward to voting again in 2021, despite there being no cinemas open in the coronavirus pandemic. The Razzies this year would include films released online, and I received an email of suggested titles that could receive nominations, of those released before lockdown and on digital platforms. Among the suggested titles were a trilogy of films starring characters named Barbie and Kendra, and I could tell just by the poster that this, the third of the three films, it was going to be awful. Basically, dumb blonde Barbie (Cody Renee Cameron) and her best friend, equally ditsy brunette Kendra (Robin Sydney), are still stuck social distancing together. The COVID-19, or coronavirus, pandemic is still causing devastation across the world. With everybody self-isolating, the only thing the girls can do is stay indoors, away from the corona zombies that are still lurking around and watch television. Recent news reports that secrets have been revealed from Area 51, proving the existence of alien intelligence on Earth since long ago. Barbie and Kendra are scared of the aliens, or "extra testicles" (extra-terrestrials) as they refer to them. But, determined that they can somehow save the world, they decide to dress as intelligent beings themselves, in silver costumes. They settle down to watch a TV special telling the story of an alien invasion in Area 51. In this documentary footage, humanoid aliens landed on Earth, but not to take over or destroy the world, but to save it from other beings. Other unworldly creatures, including alien monsters and giant robots (seen in the previous film) are the enemy, and threaten the lives of a family hanging out in the desert. There is also a giant, green-lit pyramid called Trilexa which can do anything on command. The intelligent beings from outer space show up, exploring and monitoring, and eventually combat the enemy creatures. The story ends with the aliens setting up a hidden home within Area 51. Barbie and Kendra decide to venture out, when suddenly a UFO shows up and starts blasting. The girls save themselves, teleporting themselves using the magical television remote control, but the corona zombies are still on the loose. Also starring Chris Zulch as the Corona Zombie. The majority of the film is footage from the films Space Thing (1968) and The Day Time Ended (1979) with new and deliberately silly overdubbed dialogue. The only original material are the scenes of Barbie and Kendra, which lasts about 10-15 minutes. The lead characters are highly annoying stereotypical young beautiful stupid women, the footage of the used sci-fi movies is daft, but the entire film being made up of footage from two other (virtually unknown) movies is just lazy. All its attempts to be funny, from the leading characters to the silly redubbed dialogue, with "jokes" about recent culture and news, including coronavirus, celebrities, TV, and other stuff, are just awful. It is easily one of the cheapest made (for obvious reasons) and most ridiculous films of recent times, only an idiot will find this funny or enjoyable. You'd much rather be wearing a face mask, constantly cleaning surfaces, and excessively putting on hand gel or washing your hands than watching this atrocious science-fiction comedy. It was nominated the Razzies for Worst Director for Charles Band for All 3 Barbie & Kendra movies (along with Corona Zombies and Barbie & Kendra Storm Area 51), and Worst Screenplay (All 3 Barbie & Kendra movies). Poor!

Missed opportunity
staunton-gary9 November 2020
Within the first five minutes I was already writing the review in my head, once the TV show came on, it got a little more entertaining. There is nudity in this movie, probably should be rated a MA at minimum.

The movie is watchable, just. Reminded me of an Australian film in 1993, Hercules Returns (tt0107103). That's how you dub over a film, just a tip.

Should have never been made
jannbailey-274924 February 2023
I promise you whoever gives this "movie" above two stars is being paid off or are the directors themselves. They completely stole clips from other people's project first of all is that even legal, the green screen was terrible, lighting terrible, writing terrible, ask yourself are they trying to be funny by making a "bad on purpose" movie or do they just not know how to make a good movie. Remember the doll graveyard days? Smh. You have to stop eventually if you don't have the budget or ability to make a good movie just don't make a movie at all. At some point they just started doing voice overs to a different movie lmao this movie was definitely made and edited on one single laptop.

Work that planet
nogodnomasters17 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The bulk of the film is two old movies spliced together as one with the soundtrack gutted and replaced to create a new film aka "What's Up Tiger Lily?" Two airheads watch the film and comment. I actually laughed at some of the lines which I thought were clever. It is mild critique of modern society and takes a major stab at Amazon's Alexa. Could have been worse, could have been better.

Guide F-word, sex, old film nudity from "Space Thing" (Karla Conway, Merci Montello, Fancher Fague, Cara Peters)

Was pretty funny. The Arnold voice was the best. Looking forward to watching the other two movies. Hope they make more.

Funny, Silly piece of... something
oddpodshow6 December 2020
Gotta love Full Moon for silly things like this, it's very silly and some of it really made me laugh out loud. Lots of funny dubbing and stuff. If you like a stupid silly time then switch your brain off and enjoy
