This is a video short issued with the 2007 DVD release of the 1952 musical biopic, "With a Song in My Heart." The movie was about the famous pop singer, Jane Froman (1907-1980), and starred Susan Hayward, with the actual singing by Froman dubbed. Musicians, writers and friends tell more about the life and career of a great md-20th century singer. Jane Froman survived a 1943 plane crash at Lisbon, Portugal, that was taking her for a USO tour. Two years later, still in a wheelchair and on crutches, Froman returned to entertain GIs across Europe in 1945. She traveled more than 3,000 miles in four months and gave 95 shows to GIs in Army camps and hospitals in six countries. This documentary tells more about Froman's background from childhood, and then fills in much more about her accident and career return.
