- TriviaI See You was originally written as a stage play and performed on stage in 2004 at the Ensemble Studio Theater's Going To The River Festival hosted by Elizabeth Van Dyke. It was inspired from a lecture by Dr. Joy DeGruy Leary on Dr. Martin Luther King day at Abyssinia Baptist Church on 1/19/2004. The role of Billy Banks was played by Edmund Mensah. In the film the role of Billy Banks was split between two last minute replacement actors; Sante Laird and Jeremy Johnson. All other actors reprised their original roles for the 2009 short film release shot on June 28, 2008 in the Hamptons.

I See You (a short film) by Cinti Laird
This is a really well written short. The young actors at the center of the action all offer dynamic performances supported by the two seasoned adult professionals. They put viewers through a roller coaster of emotion. In a very short span of time, I found myself impressed with Ms. Laird's African accent, the stoic nature of actor Ron Douglass' character in the face of boyhood drama compliments the charm he brings to the humor in the script. I See You by Cinti Laird is actually entertainment for sharing with family and friends - perfect for prime time. I can see this humorous short being developed into a full length film and/or a prime time network series sit-com. The characters are likable and you could easily fall in love with them. Obviously this teaser left this reviewer wanting more!
