The presence of male strippers The Chippendales on this edition drew complaints, which were ultimately rejected by the BSC.
The conclusion to the case was reported in the Newcastle Journal (15th February 1991) with the newspaper stating: "The Broadcasting Standards Council, set up by the Government to monitor taste and decency amid concern over sex and violence, backed the programme makers in its first report yesterday. The BSC report rejected all eight complaints discussed at its first meeting last week. The council did not consider an item about male strippers on the BBC's Wogan chat show unsuitable for early evening viewing."
