Two steps forward one step back.

After great episode last week, this episode wasn't at the same level. It wasn't the continuation of last week mole story but still linked to the Russian callen story overall and I was interested. the drama stories with Sam's daughter, Deeks&Kensi trying to have a baby and Callen&Anna were too long. I get that after decade of us knowing the characters ,we need to see more from them and not just action people ,but it feels it's taking away from the main story. they need to balance the episode better.

One thing that really annoys me Is the writing for Nell character. She wasn't on for 4episodes straight! And in this episode poof Here she is, no explanation of her whereabouts. She even told Kensi she is her boss now, how can she be when she isn't around?? maybe it's something to do behind the scenes, but I don't care as viewers we need to know why the supposed to be boss isn't around to guide them ?? She is not hetty and in this season they are telling us why hetty isn't around , they can't do it with Nell?. The same story is with Eric, one episode he is on like he is still working there, the next no one mentions him .it's just big writing failure .

A very, very subtle Hawaii Five 0 reference.

Early in the episode when Kenzie is about to take her shot, Deeks makes a comment about being brave about needles so that she wouldn't fall in love with Danno. Love the backdoor reference.

A disappointing drop-off.

The previous episode deserved a better follow-up than what we got in 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You'. I felt it was cramped with too many personal stories which I usually don't mind but I didn't feel right in this episode.

Just as I suspected this had something to do with Kate Miller and her connection to Anna. What I didn't get was the fact that she was the one who wanted to defect and not the captain. I can work with the storyline but it just seems to come out of nowhere.

Hopefully, they don't kill off Joelle. She's one of the best guest stars in the show's history.

Warning: Spoilers
There was nothing bad about this episode, but the show continues to simply give us by the book drivel week after week and stick to the exact same formula. I just wish that we would get something a little bit more exciting once and awhile.

We are really seeing what a loss Hetty was for this show. Even when she did not appear that much in the program and only had a few lines as motivation for when the gang needed it or to point the team in the right direction, it just made things feel more real and more serious.

Watchable, by all means, but not the show that this once was by any stretch of the imagination.
