Making the connection
JordanThomasHall20 August 2020
Patty's gabbing on the phone prevents Natalie from being able to get a call out, or Martin to get a call in. Martin calls in Patty, Ross, and Cathy to have them count their close friends. He allots 5 minutes for each friend, between 7-8 pm. Patty soon talks Martin into having another line installed, but she must first earn the $20 deposit required. She gets a job, ironically, as a telephone saleswoman for the Jet Set Reducing Belt. Just one sale will net her the $20. Cathy, from a payphone, and Ross, from a friends house, also make sales calls. They soon find how hard it is to make a sale. However, when the Lane's have friends over, Patty sees robust Mrs. Ralston (Peggy Rea, "The Dukes of Hazzard") as an easy sale. It's anything but.
