Patty and Richard have had a fight and aren't speaking to one another. Ross tries to patch things up, but Patty is irate to be tricked into talking to Richard. Patty confides in her mother that the fight is over Richard standing her up at the Shake Shop and being spotted with another girl. As she talks, Patty becomes anxious to work things out. Patty and Richard sit down where it's revealed that Patty was the one who forgot their date that evening at the library. Richard, however, seems to be losing interest, making Patty all the more anxious to get him back. He comes over only to retrieve his notebook, but when they can't find it a large search is held by the family- and it's contents may lead to another fight.
