Nowhere near as good as the first movie
lordkrythic19 July 2022
That's really all I have to say. I could sit here and enumerate a dozen, if not more, reasons why this movie profoundly lacks the magic of the first one, but I find myself a little exhausted after being disappointed by it. I still rate it a 6/10. It was a good watch. Lots of over the top gore and anime style action. However, the movie seems keen on cramming in all these new characters with powers, and in the end it sort of invalidates the original girl's powers as a whole. If everyone is special, then no one is special.

Too many little stories are crammed into the runtime of this movie, and I think that's where it inevitably fell short. The acting, cinematography, etc, is all absolutely stunning from a visual standpoint. I think it was really just the overall script that held it back from capturing that same lightening in a bottle as the first movie.

I kept asking myself "who are these people?" "Wait, why are these two people fighting?" "Why isn't she already butchering everyone?"

What I really and truly hope for, is that now that this lore and origin story is out of the way, that the third movie will hit with a massive bang, and really justify the existence of the second movie.

If you liked the first movie, you might be a little let down by this one. Maybe not. I was, but I'm still looking forward to the third and final movie.

JUST FINE
linhchi-19933 July 2022
Ok this is just an extension and expansion of a good old story. Introducing a new girl, more sides of the evil organization, faking super power fighting and CGIs but nothing wowed me or still stuck in my brain when I walked out of the movie theater. Just another plain story to be told thousand times before but with young and beautiful actors and actresses.

I like the set up of this world but I rather follow the route of the girl from part 1, at least, she got an amazing plot twist.

A disappointment to Part 1
linhp-4330310 July 2022
I saw this movie because of its prequel but this Part 2 is below the Part 1 in almost everything: the script, character building, pacing, acting and even fighting scenes. Somes may praise its visual but to me it's just another case of technique abuse. The only consolation is Ja Yoon's appearance and a few minutes with Kim Da Mi are worth more than the whole hour of the female character's dead blank face. So no Part 3 for me.

Convoluted but fun gruesome kills
witra_as5 July 2022
I wasn't quite engaged through its convoluted new characters' stories but Park Hoon-jung didn't let us down with some cute/cringey moments and gruesome kills. At least superhuman concepts in convincing world building will live to see another day in Part 3.

Confusing and hard follow what's going on.
Arch-Carl6 December 2022
Good but confusing and hard to follow also why are all the males in this depicted as ideats and kind of fools most time come on.

And didn't say they was twins and one was a male also often said one escaped was male so wear was this male as seems was both and one shown hear as female so from just that made no sense and seems all over the place mean what's going on hear.?? (Who is who extra.)

This was OK was not as good as original too many new characters with too little background as too who they are and what there motives are left me just confusing and feeling just don't really care about them.

Was really looking forward to this as well after 1st one also too much smoking too in for my liking and english speaking bit match up with what subs said was saying subs was kinda better in my opinion.

Did enjoy action was fun not as well done as 1st one or as nice looking.

The Witch: Part 2 The Other One (2022, South Korea) - Film Intro By Tamil
sivashankars-0241218 July 2022
If only a bloody psycho serial killer movie is coming in Korea, a horror and action movie full of mystery and especially sci-fi is coming nowadays, isn't it worth paying attention to it? That is the attraction that the first part gave, waiting for the second part. This second part is not that much great but a good one watchable one time, which came in a gap of four years, somewhere related to the first film. Suppose there is a secret magical witchcraft scheme. Their job is to genetically inject something to children and boys and girls and make them look like powerful monsters with super-powered,, so same as the old concept with some actions .. The Witch meets Elfenlied
FlorianLaur4 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The story of "The Witch" really reminds me a lot of "Elfenlied".

Just like in Elfenlied, we have a superhuman, superstrong girl who isn't all human and has telekinetic abilities. Also just like in Elfenlied, she has a very innocent and a very dark side.

As in Elfenlied, mercenaries and hunting teams are after her. And she also is taken in by two young adults (although these are brother and sister, not cousins).

It now seems clear that this is going to be at least a trilogy. But I don't quite understand if this movie was necessary.

We don't really get too much information about this new girl. Heck, I didn't even understand that she apparently is the same girl on the bus in the beginning. And which one is her mother? I know there's this woman, the one Dr. Baek (the one who died in part 1) talked to in a flashback(?), but who is the other woman with longer hair? When does this take place?

I saw the first movie maybe less than a year ago, but I have to admit, I really can't remember who is who anymore or if they'd been in the first one, except for the paralyzed Dr. Baek.

And who is this team of hunters going after them? They seem to be the first(?) generation batch of super humans (outdated version) who now hunt the "better models", but why is one of them played by an overacting South African dude? I mean, nothing against the guy himself, but foreigners always stick out in Korean movies, unless they're Asian too or Russian.

As with most Korean movies, the cinematography, sound and picture are superb, but I really felt this movie was too long and confusing. It didn't really further the plot much and seemed more like a "made for Netflix" movie.

I'll re-rate this movie after I've been able to watch the whole trilogy, but for now, it seems subpar and a bit too clicheed for me.

Honestly, I'm confused?
cheyennesky-2233728 July 2022
There were so many unnecessary characters, every girl looked the same to me, no one was properly introduced, there was no explanation as to why they were in the movie. The first movie had a reason and a story behind it. This? I don't even know what I have just watched for almost 2 and a half hours? I think if you haven't watched part 1, you will probably enjoy this one.

The only thing enjoyable for me was the blood, gore and killings.

Need subtitles and 2 watchings.
rain-2090018 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Confusing, not as good as the first, but still interesting.

The pregnant girl is their mother. The twin /( clone) was isolated at birth, thus no name. While Koo Ja Yoon was subjected to experimentation.

Koo Ja Yoon, needs her twin to find their mother, (who apparently is being held in stasis,), in order to get a bone marrow transplant and cure her of needing the serum.

The other characters seem to be experiments by HQ with different levels of abilities.

The Chief and sidekick appear to be unauthorized experiments by Dr. Baek.

Hopefully everything will be clearer and all tied up in the third film.

Entertaining but not as good as the first.
Megan_Shida26 July 2022
While this second entry is not nearly as strong as the first, mainly because of a weaker story and some repeated character beats from part 1, it still looks great and will not bore you. I saw it in the theater and this was a lot of fun with the stylish audio and visuals on the big screen. I'm interested to see if there will be a third or even more films, as the first was such an interesting take on the hero genre and this second one still has me pondering how the story may continue.

Not as good as it's predecessor
TheDyingGirl16 August 2022
There are too many characters and no backstory. When the movie ended i was just as confused as when it started. The first one had more interesting twists and turns than this one.

Bloodier than part 1 but average
mikkiparker18 July 2022
This film will suck you into the story and won't let you go. The opening scene was magnificent. The film felt more violent, bloodier and gore-y than part 1 but it was still not too over the top. The fight scenes were nice to watch and very well choreographed.

However, the whole plot ofo the film felt simple. For two hours, you were basically watching two groups of supernatural humans chase one god-like girl that took all of them down within 15 minutes. I wish they added more depth into the story, focused more on the girl's origin and maybe more on how she became the strongest and most powerful of them all. What happened in the lab? Why was she created? More background to her story.

Overall, it was a nice watch and I do recommend to watch it.

The Witch Part 2: The Stupid One
soeprijo1923 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After a very long waiting and anticipation, finally I got the chance to see this movie. And what a huge disappointment it was! The new characters were boring and very much stereotype, far worse than the first one. While we were very much entertained by the friendship between Ja Yong (Kim Dami) and Myung Hee (Go Minsi) in the first movie, this second one offered nothing. The main character (The Girl) was a wooden and stupid one. Unlike Ja Yong in the first movie who was cunning and calculated her every moves, The Girl only wanted to eat free pizza, spaghetti and other food. Really boring and annoying! I hope The Witch Part 3 would redeemed this franchise (finger crossed)

This is just same story like 1st part but told with different perspective
shiversad21 July 2022
Part 1 was awesome and caught everyone off-guard but Part 2 took like 4 years to come but was as same as part 1 but told differently, as we see few new characters and another girl with almost similar abilities and in same environment, so I get why people are disappointed in this as there is nothing new and seeing it took 4 years to come is like putting salt on wound but nonetheless movie was enjoyable and had some good action scenes, we also get to know about what's gonna be at stake in 3rd part, hopefully it doesn't repeat the cons of this movie.

+Side Characters (especially that chief and her sidekick) +actions scenes -story -similar plot as 1st one

Overall movie felt like an expansion to 1st part but not as a new movie all together. Like if they introduced this girl in the 1st movie and created a parallel plot with the main plot even then they would have actually made the same movie.

Better than Part 1 but the story
thehumanx23 July 2022
Everything this part has to offer compared to the first part is stunning; the visuals, the direction, background score. But the story goes nowhere and becomes convoluted with several pieces stitching here and there.

Nevertheless, we get to see awesome actions scenes and superpowers. I am beginning to wonder how many are there out there because the new ones just seem to be appearing every 20 minutes.

Overall, I loved the first half as it builds up and the direction of it and the action scenes. Waiting for the next part.

Thought there'd be something more
choijoeking24 July 2022
The fight scenes are really cool and the CGIs really hit it off but the main plot kind of killed the thrill of all the fighting scene. Instead of just focusing on what the movie is about (which is about Jayoon's sister), they made it seem like an introduction film for new characters with unknown concrete roles in the story. I honestly came for the thrill and Jin Goo but I ended up becoming disappointed, still giving it a seven in hopes that they will try and give us a good one on the third movie.

What a letdown!
Leofwine_draca6 February 2023
THE WITCH: PART 2 - THE OTHER ONE is a huge letdown considering just how good the original movie was. This one feels like a weak rehash and the insanely complex plotting of the first half an hour is enough to put off even the most hardened viewers of Korean cinema. The story retreads the first film's in the tale of a new test subject who takes refuge at a remote farmhouse before the bad guys show up. At nearly two and a half hours in length, most of this feels like cheesy padding, with about three different sets of villains for no good reason. The CGI FX are embarrassing and although the ending is good it takes a long time to get there. I couldn't work out why the grating and annoying South African henchman gets more screen time and character development than the lead...

I Liked it.. Almost Loved it..
My-Two-Cent1 August 2022
I'll admit it like the same as the rest of you.. It's not as good as the first one or even close but the first one was SOOO over the top good that the follow up which happens to be about "THE OTHER ONE" can't live up to the hype and they baited everyone in with the thought of seeing a lot more of "Ja Yoon" instead we met her sister and she put on a great show..! I even started liking the token over acting overbearing white guy.. Can't wait for part 3.

Ambitious,a bit cocky and generic Warning: Spoilers
Had almost the same narrative beats as that of the first one and also was noticeably too generic of a mix of Asian western action flick this time complete with a foreign comic relief character usually seen in asian action movies.

I thought this one was gonna go deep into the narrative along with juicing out that scifi elements of it to the last drop while also balancing that with thrilling and gory action sequences as I was under the impression that this was going to be the finale based on the hype generating cliffhanger of an ending the first one had but that wasn't the case here.

This one was even more crammed with plethora of new characters and one too many plot points and while most of the characters were like fodders for the new protagonist to feast upon coz of the generic nature of action focused narrative the plot points also didn't hit well and the twists were satisfying if not impressive.

Shin si-ah was likeable and convincing as A1DP and Park eun-bin & Sung yoo-bin were good as the sibling duo while the rest of the supporting characters also played their part in a digestable and non tarnishing manner.

Although I found the mix of handothand/gunplay/slasher action sequences done in a fast paced and dbz esque way to be fun and thrilling along with being delighted for the involvement of more violence and gore I still found the choreography to be kind of messy compared to how grounded and neat the first ones choreography was.

Park hoon-jung here seemed too impatient and overly excited to showcase his witch world, characters and their powers in an even more grander scale so after seeing those final action sequences and the display of immense power of A1dp (which felt like too much of an information) I am extremely curious about how bigger the series concluder may or may not be.

I think that The Other One will kinda end up being the victim of middle child syndrome once the series conclude, for me...if the finale doesn't end up being a disappointment of a series concluder.

6.5/10.

Huge Disappointment
richardtrucker19 July 2022
I was excited to see part 2 and I waited for this 2years after seeing the first movie, only to be extremely disappointed.

The first movie had a great story, this one in my opinion, had nothing I expected based on how the last one finished.

I doubt I'll wait for the third part unless they put the original actress back in the main role, she was completely believable.

Alright
gab-6759922 July 2022
As a sequel it was ok. I only just found out about pr. 2 and 1 today. So after watching them in order I can say I loved pt. 1. Although this movie didn't live up to the hype of the first one it was still alright. Maybe if there were not so many new characters to have to follow. Then a few of the females had similar facial traits so it made it hard for me to know who was who. The story in 1 was likable and easy to follow. This story felt like it was all over the place. Not sure why the ppl with power wanted to kill the other ppl with power. Sure, things were explained but not the right things. I have so many unanswered questions. I wish they had picked up right where the last one left off! The special effects in this movie were not so great either but still I could overlook that. The end hinted at a 3rd installment... I am not sure how they would do that when 2 left me so confused. I hope they explain more in the 3rd one because I really did love pt. 1. I loved the villain in the first one and the bestfriend. This would have been great if they had kept the same cast. That was why 1 was so great. I wish they would pick a language and stick with it as well. Other than that, it was ok to pass time with.

A waste
edwards_trina-560-69063418 October 2022
There was no substance. The only good part was at the end when everyone started killing each other. Nothing else was good about it. I felt like my cousin and I wasted our time watching this. They could have done way better. Especially with how good the first one was. Maybe they sent their money on the actors bcuz I don't even remember what the plot was. Was there a different writer from the first one? Had to be! I do not recommend anyone watch this. If they do make a part 3, I hope they have the same writer from part one. If it's the same writer for both, there needs to be a new writer for the third part. It has so much potential to redeem itself in the third one.

Highly Disappointing
vpashish12 August 2022
After watching this movie the only 2 words that come to your mind is highly Disappointing. Compared to part 1 this movie fails to deliver on all fronts from storyline to music and from acting to direction. Could have been done in a much much better manner. Boring and fails to involve viewers interest, which part 1 did nicely. Don't waste your time on this !!
