This season was a huge improvement with a satisfying conclusion

I'm one of the many people who stayed on this train because of Katee Sakhoff and the love of the genre. I was bitterly disappointed with season one for all the reasons everyone is already said. With that, it was abundantly clear that a cast shake up was ordered with all those character deaths in the first two episodes! The right characters though?... beside the point. The season had no filler! S2 played out to what I see as a conclusion of the series as I think it's highly unlikely Netflix will renew it again. The final episode was actually great. Everything wrapped up nicely.

Huge improvement over the first season !
webstefan200319 October 2021
While the first season was slow burn, non-sensical at times and rather all over the place this is leaps and bounds over it.

I get that some of the stories have that innate slow burn pace but this is a sci-fi and it should have a rather faster pace especially with the 10 episode count for the season.

The second season however does that way better, it's more action oriented, the philosofical issues usually presented in sci fi are better illuatrated, and for the most part the acting is better.

The story is a bit predictable if you've seen enough sci fi but just enough to keep you interested and not to put you away.

I would've liked to see more special effects especially in alien races and a bit more inventivity in ilustrating them but I guess bugetary constraints are an issue when we talk about well designed aliens. Also there was absolutley no world building for any of the alien races and given the slow pace maybe an episode or two with that wouldn't have hurt, just to get an insight into what drives them, and not just take the easy deus ex machina route. I get it it's easier, safer and I guess cheaper but still would've wanted it.

Maybe they'll get another season and try it then.

Now while Katee Sackhoff's acting is great and when it comes to sci fi she really brings it, Justin Chatwin is soo over reaching here that it's almost funny, I don't wanna say the dude is a bad actor but I just didn't buy any of the Erik he brought to camera while Katee's Niko was quite believable and actually strong and determined.

Considering the second season I honestly hope they get a third, like someone said before it's not a masterpiece but it get better and enjoyable.

Warning: Spoilers
The second season ended well, I was gripped and the story arcs of the characters were pulling me deeper into the story. To be honest I waiting for one of the main players to die. That didn't happen and I'm not gone lie, I was relieve that they made it to the other side. I kind of got to like the ones that were left.

very good season, good ending

I just finished season 2. I was quite pleased overall. There was a big improvement from season 1. Yes, some actors were bad. For me the only intolerably bad acting was with Erik, Niko's husband. Some other actors were rather good. The storyline was inventive, captivating and thrilling. This was real science fiction. Honestly it's been years since I have enjoyed science fiction, either movie or tv. Altered carbon season 1 was the time.

Another life is no masterpiece, but for me it was a breath of fresh air, very enjoyable.

Well done!

Just getting better and better!

Strange that those who bother to watch the whole show ends up with a rating of 7-8 while the idiots watching 1-2 episodes rate it 5... First rule of Sci Fi, you must like Sci fi to watch it, otherwise for sure you won't like it.

Just when it starts to make sense...
There was some great moments in this episode, if a little predictable they were well scripted and for the most part, well acted. Still full of the good ol' white nuclear family cliché but hey, why would Hollywood fix that which ain't making them broke? Though they'd make a lot more if they got a bit real. (sigh) All the same, there's potential in this. Like Battlestar Galactica (props to those 3 fabulous women bringing their acting chops to Another Life), there's the human, emotional side and there's a technical side that's dumbed down enough for the average moron to get their head around. Though you'd think producers and writers would know that viewers can get on board with that side to not be scared off. I mean, have they never watched Star Trek?

Enough of my rambling. Yeah, the "good" guys beat the "baddies". This time. And they all lived happily ever after, and got a mighty big thank you from exactly who you'd expect to say "thanks" even if on examination, doesn't really hold up.

Casting and Story - The downfall of this show
cyberperro23 October 2021
The cast is not likable, to the point where most of them are annoying constantly, and that's likely attributed to terrible dialogue writing. Each episode spends more time on showing soap opera deceitful characters than being a compelling episode of storytelling. This is sci-if at its worst.

Better than Season One
lakings9725 June 2022
Another Life: Season Two was much better than the first season maybe because they knew there wouldn't be another one of this crap. The only consistency was the crappy script, but I am glad they ended it on a good note. I am not sure how this series received good ratings, it had bad direction, okay script, bad editing and just not great cgi effects. I rather watch Stargate again, just this one.
