I don't understand these bad reviews, I was really impressed with the first episode. Sebastian Stan NAILED Tommy Lee (no pun intended), and yes it was over the top, but so is Tommy Lee. Seth Rogan (almost unrecognizable) does a great job of showing us how and why things happened the way they did....you can feel his anger and his need for revenge. I'm really interested to see how the rest of the series. Goes.

I had no expectations coming into this. In parts, it's melodramatic and a bit silly, but overall it's quite good. The framing of narrative is odd though, but then again it's part of the "brand" of celebrities, especially these two.
Quite surprised to see Seth Rogen, I didn't recognise him! It was a small half-grin he did with his mouth that made me go ohhhhhh it's him!
The guy who plays Jay Leno... lol. Terrible.

What a great way to capture our interest in the most simplest sense. Instead of showing the over the top lives of celebrities we see the world from the lens of an ordinary carpenter who has a reasonable axe to grind. We get snippets of the ridiculous lives of Pam and Tommy through a very ordinary setting but it conveys a lot. Also I was very young to know of all the escapes of these two so its great and new viewing.

I understood why the focused was on him (when I realized it was Seth Rogen), but I didn't appreciate it. I'm here for Pam/Lily James, who barely even appeared in this episode.
Also, Tommy and Rand (and even Pam) were not very likeable characters. Will episode 2 and the alleged focus on Pam & Tommy be better...? Not sure I'll get to it, there are too many other shows I prefer.

Almost lost me

In an era where you can only watch so much tv (while still trying to have a life), it's common to abandon a show just after half an episode. There are too many good shows out there.
This one almost lost me halfway through the first episode. It wasn't the best decision, I'd say, to focus on the carpenter - without us knowing why. The show's title is Pam and Tommy, and there we are, watching a guy working for Tommy, most of the time. At the end, we know why, but as stated: that was almost too late.
The main characters aren't shown in their best light, to put it mildly. The carpenter is vengeful, and has no problems with breaking and entering. (one could argue that he has his rights to act like he's acting, but still) Tommy is, well, I can't write the word I'm thinking of - he's an self-entitled has-been with too much money. Not a nice guy, too say it very kindly. And Pam, who IS shown as a nice woman, is also shown as a pretty dim woman.
Other than that, only regarding the appearances and attitudes of the two title characters, as far as we know them from back then and from afar: they've nailed it.

Was ready to turn it off before the opening credits when I saw the cartoon that was supposed to be Jay Leno and whoever was playing Pam was awful. Figured I'd watch anyway. Didn't improve much, but that got me to raise my score from a 0 to a 3
Not many films where you would say Seth Rogen was the best actor.
I will check out the next episode but not holding out a lot of hope.
