- When Sgt. Spencer is found shot in his quarters, Lt. Scott conducts a room-to-room search for any evidence. It looks bad for Col. Young when Scott and Eli find the murder weapon in the Colonel's room. He asks Chloe to represent him at a hearing that will be held on board. The military members of the crew are prepared to back-up their commanding officer with force if necessary but Young insists they all calm down and let the process continue. Eli manages to find conclusive evidence about what exactly happened to Spencer and who put the gun in Young's room. Knowing who is behind the deception, Young takes action.—garykmcd
- Sgt. Spencer is late for his shift of kitchen duty but when Sgt Greer goes to check on him, he finds Spencer dead. Although it appears to be a suicide, no gun is present. Wray berates Col. Young for pressuring Spencer but Greer intervenes and reminds her that Spencer could not have committed suicide then gotten rid of the gun. Young orders an investigation led by Lt. Scott and Eli Wallace who have solid alibis. Eli and Lt. Scott begin to search all of the rooms while the rest of the ship's group stay in the gate room. Rush communicates with Col Young and it is realized that Rush is not in the gate room with everyone else. Lt. Scott and Eli then find the gun used to kill Spencer and find it in an air vent in Col. Young's cabin. Col. Young insists that the investigation continue and refuses suggestions that he maintain leadership through force. They report the situation to earth and Wray is put in charge by the IOA to conduct an investigation and hearing. Col. Young asks Chloe Armstrong to defend him in the questioning.
As tensions escalate, Lt. Scott continues to pressure Eli to search for any leads or information that may have been recorded on the kinos Eli has roaming around the ship. Many of the crew feel no loss as a result of Spencer's death and some consider it a good act of leadership by Col. Young but Young continues to refuse to pull rank and stop the investigation. Wray assumes command and gives Rush permission to run the science team as he sees fit. Rush immediately brings the scientists into the room where he found the interface chair in the prior episode and gives them a speech about how it is vital that they find a way to interact with the chair since it may be their only chance to return home. Eventually, one of the scientists on duty convinces Eli to go get some food and while alone, attempts to sit in the chair (or Rush may have forced him, it is unclear). The chair inserts needles into his head and he is removed from the chair in a very serious medical condition. It is not known if he will survive or whether he gained any knowledge.
The Destiny drops back into normal space and a gate is opened to a desert world. Some crew go through to investigate and find a crashed alien spaceship of a race no one is familiar with. Meanwhile, Eli finds that some records on the kino were erased. He retrieves the records and shows everyone proof that Spencer killed himself. Later, he privately shows Young that it was Rush who took the gun and hid it in Young's cabin. Young and Rush go to the planet to see the alien ship. Everyone else returns and Young has a confrontation with Rush. They fight and Young leaves Rush on the planet as he returns back through the stargate just before Destiny jumps again. He tells everyone that Rush fell in a rockslide and did not make it. The episode ends with Rush awakening on the desert planet all alone.
