Of ALL the Paula Peril movies, this is the ONLY one in which Paula herself does NOT appear bound and gagged.
This is the third time that Valerie Perez has appeared as Paula Perillo on film. The first time was for the 7-minute short "Trapped in the Flames" which was produced as a test for special effects and stunt work. The second was "Midnight is the Darkest Hour" a feature length film produced by New Phoenix Filmworks under license to the comic's producer Atlantis Studios. "Midnight is the Darkest Hour" was never completed, although some footage and production photos are available at www.paulaperilmovie.net.
In the Gazette scene, copies of the comic book 'The Adventure of Paula Peril' can be seen strewn on the desk in the background. In addition, newspaper headlines which appear in the film are pulled from adventures that appear in the issues of the comic book.
To keep within a modest production budget, nearly $1,000 dollars in evening dresses and jewelry were donated by Lilburn, GA based Cinderella's Closet. The dresses were selected and fitted to Valerie Perez and Marla Malcolm just two days before filming began.
