See the sky (about to rain).

As "POTICHE " is released and is soon to be known as a François Ozon movie,I want to pay a tribute to the sensational stage actress Jacqueline Maillan who created the role some thirty years ago;I had the opportunity to see the lady perform on stage in Paris and almost all her lines of the Barillet/Gredy comedy raised a storm of laughter;whether Deneuve -who has never performed on stage- can do the same remains to be seen.

"Potiche" ,in its own way,is a woman's lib manifesto.A manufacturer's (umbrellas!) wife has nothing to do in her husband 's factory ;one fine day,she no longer wants to sit there and look pretty .She brought the business as her dowry after all! While her hubby is overtaken by events ,she has the situation well under control very soon and wants to become a "mother" to all people working for them! It must be available on DVD.Don't deny yourself a good thing!and you can compare with Ozon's work ;one should note that it's not the first time he has adapted a play for the screen,as "8 Femmes" testifies.
