Much better than episode one
emily-uk23 June 2023
I nearly didn't watch this one but glad it did. It was lovely. Everything you expect from outlander. Reminiscing about the future, time travel, explosions, heart felt moments and happy families.

Plus we got a hook at the end which makes me want to tune in next week.

If I had to criticise one thing it would be the bit about malva and her brother. I may have to go back and rewatch last season based on this revelation. Without giving any spoilers she was apparently totally misunderstood and was being manipulated into everything she did. I am not sure I buy this based on what I recall of her actions, she seemed to have a thing for Jamie and to hate Claire, even when she was alone. Again maybe I am misremembering as it has been ages since season 6.

Finally, this unforgettable and moving episode happened.
elliottremblay23 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode marks one of the biggest twists of any Outlander storyline to date. And I'm so happy with how hard the production has worked to keep it a secret in any promo or trailer for the past few months. I've read the books and I've been waiting for this moment in Roger and Bree's journey for so many years, my eyes were shining like never before the whole episode.

The dialogues were carefully written and performed competently by the whole team. I find it incredible how effectively each member of the cast embodies their character. It's so real for them and for us too. Everything was smooth but heartbreaking at the same time.

And yet here we are in the seventh season of this incredible show that started almost 10 years ago. And yet, at 702 "The Happiest Place on Earth", Outlander remains deeply moving and beautifully engrossing and satisfying to watch. Whether it is the strength of the performances of the main actors but also of the supporting actors, whether it is the production design which includes the sets and the costumes, whether it is the cinematography or the script, this episode was able once again as in the season 2 or 3 catching up with the essence of Outlander and why myself and all the other fans (I presume) fell in love with this great story in the beggining. As for me, I watched seasons 1 and 2 before I started reading the books in 2017, and I know this episode gave me the same feeling I had when my mind was saying "ok that's it , I want the novels".

Also, I would personally like to add that I found Sophie Skelton (Brianna) acting superb in this episode with her departure to the 20th century and the heartbreaking goodbye.

The same for all the other performances.

Thank you once again to the entire cast and crew for delivering what is possibly one of the best-crafted and best-packaged episodes of Outlander in recent years.

Fantastic

Great episodes (1 & 2) to start off the season. And the opening theme song this season is the best version since the original. You can't top Sinead O'Connor's unmistakable vocal. It certainly set the tone for the season opener and we listened to it twice before watching the new episode. A great production, as it always has been, of top quality and consistent. The leads are a fantastic fit and are they are making an iconic and indelible mark on the industry. There are but a handful of television series that have been this successful based on an already successful literary series, but here you have it.

Emotional Roller Coaster
jamesleo-0889725 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Still processing the emotions brought to the surface in this episode. Anger, disgust, joy, happiness, sadness, despair and shock! This episode was orchestrated and delivered beautifully by the entire cast and production team.

Alex Vlahos portrayed his sadist-psycho character brilliantly in the opening scene. Sam Heughan & Caitriona Balfe were absolutely phenomenal in the heart breaking scene after their family traveled back to the future, knowing they may never see them again.

This was a neatly packaged wrap up to all that was left hanging at the end of Season 6. Now the Frasers & MacKenzies are heading into uncharted waters but without the lifeline of their extended family and support system.

Incredible Performances in an Emotion Filled Episode
brendamaille3 July 2023
The performances by everyone were so well acted, I was drawn into the emotional roller coaster as if I had a personal stake in what was happening and the characters were my family. Sam, Caitriona, Sophie, Roger and John have always been superb but their interaction reached such a deep level that I truly felt the emotional pain they were going through. I do not see actors playing a role, I only see the characters. The writing, production values and direction, together with the incredible acting, made the entire episode so memorable. There have been emotional episodes in the past, but none have touched me like this episode. Also, Alex as Allan Christie, up to this point has not had much content to deliver, but man, did he deliver an outstanding performance. There is so much other content in this episode to connect past episodes with events to come to keep us on the edge of our seats. Job well done by all. Absolutely loved it from beginning to end.

I SWEAR TO GOD THIS SEASON IS GOING TO SHRED ME
wellwithin26 June 2023
I think so far it is the most intense season yet. Emotions, all actors at their zenith (but Sam, Cait, Soph, Rik, John B, & Mark LJ are absolutely next level), writers on point, pacing, directing & cinematography nailed down tight, story hitting book points, number of events and characters packed in each scene, humor, poignance, angst - holy shirt, it's just EPIC. I can't catch everything in just one viewing. Never could, but now, it's like the show is saying "keep up, man, we're not stopping to explain!" Ep2 scene with J & C broke me. I'm swinging between ecstatic & heart-bruised so far in S2.

Disney princess
Rob-O-Cop23 June 2023
The Malva arc gets closed but it felt a bit tacked on and rushed. Exposition not really earned, but glad to see the back of that arc so not really complaining.

Then we got some time travel, and a reason for it so that will keep everyone happy for a bit.

There was the stiff talk about Disney world in which even Sam couldn't pull a convincing performance out of. Jamie seemed cheesy and clumsy, and the whole scene felt pointless except to maybe sell tickets to the 'happiest place on earth?" Wendigo's scene also felt somewhat off. No weight to it, but we did get the prophesied moment at the end, and with the rest of the series to go we know it's not their end.

Still good tv, but not the best episode of the series.

Episode 702
bobcobb30118 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I see a lot of negative reviews for Outlander, but I find it to still be fresh and give us the right amount of historical drama, romance and genuine entertainment. I wish that Malva had stuck around a little longer, but they have managed to extract just a little bit more drama from her this season, so it worked out. Now Ian will have to look over his shoulder for awhile.

I don't know how I feel about them abandoning the US for Scotland, but a journey overseas, finally highlighting the difficulty of travel during this era, could be exactly what the show needs to deliver a quality season in year 7.

Wrapped up in a nice little bow... AGAIN!!
jellycupman23 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So they've done it again! First Steven bonnet disappeared in the blink of an eye, and now the Malva storyline gets swepped under the carpet in a flash to never be seen again! Geez the amount of build up and great storytelling to get there just gets lost with a finish in the first 5 minutes my god! I'll continue to watch in the hopes of some upcoming episodes that could rival the early season episodes. And hopefully the long game storyline of lord John and William pays dividends and doesn't just disappear into the "Ether" like some bad dream. At least the acting and set designs were quite good in this episode.

Impossible to watch, it's so bad
annanerc27 June 2023
What is this, a Brazilian telenovela...? I've watched all of the previous seasons, last ones were not as good as first, second one (as it usually is), but this one is so bad, huge disappointment. I enjoyed watching the previous seasons, but this one is really bad, or at least the first two episodes. I feel like I'm watching a kitschy Brazilian telenovela :-(, too sweet, over-sentimental, too haughty, unsuccessfully forcing an emotions and tears, the dialogues are also characteristic for telenovela, until nausea sets in. The plot is weak, boring, not holding together. I hope that the next episodes will be better.... Fingers crossed.
