Lady Danbury and Queen Charlotte
fh_331 March 2022
So much overacting and over enunciation of every single syllable. It like Danbury is chewing her words and Queen Charlotte has to add extra lilt to each phrase. This is TV not theater.

Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie), Katharine "Kate" Sharma Bridgerton (Simone Ashley), and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan)

Warning: Spoilers
Favorite scene with

Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) - At the Print Shop, trying to find out who Lady Whistledown is.

Katharine "Kate" Sharma Bridgerton (Simone Ashley) - At the Horse Race.

Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) - Colin telling her that she doesn't count as a Woman because she is a Friend to him.

Taming of the Shrew

Is clearly the theme of this season - the character is even called Kate (although he's called Anthony not Petruchio).

I like Simone Ashley in Sex Education (2019) but here I find the character of Kate abrasive arrogant and smug. I don't really like Anthony either (though I like Jonathan Bailey )

Some of the complaints against Season 2 I find bewildering - yes some of the music is adaptations of modern songs, but that occurred in Season 1 as well.

The entire series is not meant to be a factual representation of the Regency, (not the Victorian period as someone said) it's meant to be a dramedy that's pretty to look at.

Although we all miss the extremely easy-on-the-eye Duke, I will enjoy this season with my amateur historian brain firmly switched off.

Competition gets fiercer

Eloise doubles down on her manhunt for lady whistledown whilst the hunt for the diamond grows fiercer. While promising for a shift in the structure of society, it seems to be much of the same.

Struggling

Season 1 was a masterpiece. Season 2 is lacking. Over enunciation of every spoken word by the new main female characters. It is NOT easy on the ears. And I'm just bored. So bored. Bring back Daphne & the Duke.

Boring

The first season was exciting but I can't get into the second season. It's slow. I would like it to pick up. I will keep watching to see if it gets better.

De Je Vue we have been here before?

Warning: Spoilers
I was so looking forward to Season 2. Stupidly I had thought we would be following on from end of Season 1, and have more of Daphne and the DUKE.

Nope it was all change and back to first script but with new characters and the same old chase for the DIAMOND by the queen. Who still looks like someone has swallowed a wasp.

I hated the first 3 epidodes was struggling to watch it. I am not sure what it was, something was so off. I suppose the new love interest of Anthony was plainly obvious, and we went through the same Lady whistldown conspirarcy and who would become the Queens Diamond.

Kate the new love interest of Anthony arrived riding full pelt on her horse showing amazing horsemanship. She must have been truly privilidged in India from whence she came to have had this opportunity to ride so well.

Then over time she was encouraged to get to know Anthony by her sister who kate was trying to get bethrothed to said Anthony even though she had the hots for him.

So she was pushed into his path. Then she went off hunting with all the men really and they all sauntered along the woods with guns fully loaded and I am cringing.............safety first. I always thought each person had a handler who walked behind them with their gun which was handed to them when a target was seen or am in the twighlight zone?

So this went on and off until episode 3/4. I would say 4 was when i finally go into it enough to actually watch an episode without filing or polishing my nails through boredom.

Oh dear it was just season 1 with new characters. The new Lord Featherington was obviously a con man as it transpired.

Eloise spent most of time trying to find out who Lady Whistldown was my goodness she had enough clues right in front of her. Lol. Still all will be revealed if you keep watching.

I did enjoy very much the scene with Charlotte when her husband George III turned up she showed the love for him she really had in the real story of CHARLOTTE and GEORGE III,, who had an amazing and loving marriage which spanned over 50 years. They had 15 children and 13 survived. Before the king got ill in 1788 he played a large role in this childrens lives. Non of this is evident in Bridgerton.

I find they have made the Queen black but they have portrayed her as quite a frivoulous fool she was never that, and yes I know its meant to be escapism, but if your going to throw us to the WOKE lions at least make the lions have some sense........................

Oh dear it was just so predicatable. I knew what was going to happen. It did too. I think they should quit now no season 3.

I am not sure I will bother to watch it.
