The stage curtains open ...
Season One ended on this episode, "An Affair to Dismember", and now that it's all over, I still don't really know what to make of it. Most of the questions that came up during the series were answered, though some of them not so satisfactorily. Honestly, I'm glad it's done now and I can move on to something else. It had its moments, and it definitely has its flaws.
As I mentioned in my review for the episode before this one, we spend about half the time at the childhood home of Charles Lee Ray and the other half at the town theater for their Frankenstein event - hosted by none other than Jennifer Tilly. Chucky's elaborate plan becomes known which did lead to a memorable moment and garnered a couple of laughs. The reasoning behind everything, however, once the plot was exposed, was pretty lame and ill conceived - and not explained. It just "is" and we have to accept it.
Chucky goes on a last killing spree in Hackensack, at least for this season, and the body count grows. I won't say who surives and who dies, but if Hackensack doesn't make the national news after this series of events, then yeah.... I admit that some of the visuals in this episode were pretty good, and I did enjoy the backdrop of the original Frankenstein movie in some of the scenes.
I would say this episode effectively tied up the loose ends and left just enough to spill over into the next season, but overall, I wasn't that impressed. Chucky himself greets us before the final credits roll with a small commentary, similar to the Cryptkeeper from the Tales From The Crypt. I give this final episode 6 stars out of 10.
