Just in time for the election, EW has teamed with research firm Experian Marketing Services to present the favorite TV shows of Republicans and Democrats. Below are dozens of series whose audiences tend to skew heavily toward one political party or the other. To some extent, the results confirm partisan stereotypes: Dem favorites include snarky comedies like NBC's Community, Saturday Night Live, and IFC's Portlandia, liberal-messaging shows such as Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, and Aaron Sorkin's The Newsroom; plus there's a dash of science-based programming like Fox's Cosmos miniseries and PBS' Nova.

I’ve learned that CBS TV Distribution is finalizing a deal with Bobby Flay and Giada de Laurentiis to develop a syndicated daytime talk show for Fall 2013. The talker is expected to be in the vein of Live With Regis & Kelly and also air live. Shane Farley (Rachael Ray) will executive produce. This is the second high-profile syndicated talk show in the works for fall 2013. Sony TV is working on a show hosted by Queen Latifah and co-produced by Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment. Flay and DeLaurentiis, granddaughter of veteran film producer Dino DeLaurentiis, each have their own shows on Food Network, and both were recently nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards, Flay for Bobby Flay’s Barbecue Addiction and DeLaurentiis for Giada at Home. DeLaurentiis’ show actually scored the most Emmy noms for a culinary program, 5, followed by the most popular food-themed talk show over the past few years, Rachael Ray,...

Finding the next "Food Network Star" is a new game for Giada De Laurentiis.
The chef who hosts "Giada at Home" and "Everyday Italian" now has more of a contest to choose an aspiring cooking personality for his or her own show, as the Food Network competition continues its eighth season Sundays. As are fellow returnee Bobby Flay and new cast addition Alton Brown, she's coaching a group in culinary challenges that will winnow the contenders down to one.
"It has really upped the stakes for us and made us emotionally invested in these people," De Laurentiis says of the new format. "Whoever wins, that mentor will produce that winner's show, so we have a lot involved in this."
And that's fine with De Laurentiis. "Actually, I had asked Food Network at the end of last season to change the game a bit," she reports. "I really felt like I was a talking head,...

Giada De Laurentiis is a celebrity in her own right, and she feels she owes it in large part to her ancestors in the entertainment world.
The Food Network and Cooking Channel personality is the granddaughter of the late film producer Dino De Laurentiis, whom she says "made something like over 600 movies in 60 years" including "Serpico," "Death Wish" and the Jessica Lange-introducing 1976 remake of "King Kong." And actress Silvana Mangano, who starred in such epics as "Ulysses" and "Barabbas," was her maternal grandmother.
"Honestly, when the show 'Everyday Italian' started, I wanted to shoot it like Grandfather shot movies," De Laurentiis explains to Zap2it, "and really tell a story from beginning to end. The cinematography, the lighting and everything else in that show really set me up for what I have today, and I don't think I would have had that knowledge had I not come...

Here’s the list of nominated shows in these four categories. I’ve included the nominees for the “Rally” – nice to see Paul Dinello on the lists!

Is a woman's place really in the kitchen? Yes - in a manner of speaking, anyway, says feisty TV chef Giada De Laurentiis. "I think it can be hard for any man to sometimes be upstaged by his wife," she explains in the February issue of Redbook. "So when I'm home, I work very hard to be Todd's wife and Jade's mother. I have no problem going back to those traditional roles." The star of Giada at Home, 40, is married to Todd Thompson and mom to Jade, who turns 3 in March. Chef Giada De Laurentiis has a special cooking partner – her 2-year-old daughter Jade Marie.
“She has a kitchen in her playroom with little baby pots and pans and we simultaneously cook,” De Laurentiis told People Moms & Babies Sunday at the 4th Annual Kidstock Music and Arts Festival in Los Angeles.
The Food Network star and Today show contributor also bonds with her daughter over another shared love – singing.
“She likes to sing the songs that I like. Her favorite right now is ‘Kids’ by Mgmt,” De Laurentiis, 39, laughs.
“The funny thing is, now I hate the song myself!
