THE MANY LOVES OF UNCLE CHARLEY!
tcchelsey9 January 2024
George Tibbles, who wrote the bulk of the show's episodes, probably expanded on an earlier story that found Steve and the gang preparing to go to Hawaii --but never got out the door! This time they make it, thanks to Steve's company, who sends him on a business trip to Hawaii -- and everybody gets to go!

It's a lot of fun, this time in color --but there will always be that poignant slant.... Uncle Charley sentimentally recalls his days as a young seaman and yet another(!) lady he knew years ago. Nobody could relate those old adventure tales better than William Demarest. He was a natural. Of course, Robbie has to have some companionship and runs into a pretty girl named Judith (played by popular actress Susan Seaforth Hayes).

Leave it to George Tibbles to spice things up, albeit momentarily, until everyone heads back home. It's too bad this wasn't a two-part or hour episode as there was a lot of possibilities with this classic story.

To note, Susan Hayes, about a year later, would join the cast of DAYS OF OUR LIVES, where she is still appearing, playing the part of Julie. Character actress Napua Wood plays Nani, who was in fact born in Hawaii, later guest starring in FAMILY AFFAIR. A very good actress.

Dedicated to all us armchair romantics. SEASON 7 EPISODE 32.
