A gentle giant lives in a small village. The giant lets the local children play in his garden and owns a treasure box that can be opened if one of the children answers a riddle correctly. However, a greedy wizard gains possession of said box.
Writer/director David Allen brings a tender and thoughtful sensibility to this sweet animated short that has a touching central message about what exactly makes human beings so special. Moreover, the wise and selfless giant registers as a genuinely endearing character, the exceptionally fluid and colorful stop-motion animation will have fans of this process in heaven throughout, the vibrant cinematography offers a wealth of pretty and striking visuals, and one can not help but be awed and impressed by the meticulously detailed evocation of the fantasy world this story takes place in. Kudos are also in order for John W. Morgan's graceful orchestral score and George Achambeault's mellifluous narration. A lovely little gem.
