A self-proclaimed hybrid of The Karate Kid and Tron, Turbo has the feel of a movie made for the 80's generation, but with an apparent love for 90's gaming world—particularly how it has shades of Tekken and Street Fighter in its blood, as well as the arcade setting. Starring Justin Chon (Twilight) and Jocko Sims (Crash series), it's a fun little sci-fi fighting movie that boasts some pretty impressive production value.

Okay, so that's not the official name for the film just yet, but excitingly enough, Twilight saga star Justin Chon's been co-authoring a screenplay according to a recent MTV interview. Chon, who is known for his lively work in films such as Crossing Over and the recently revealed Turbo, is apparently giving his all to a new non-Twilight feature again. Though the film includes "a working title," it is about, according to that interview, "a road trip down to Argentina, with three kids that grew up in Huntington."...

'We don't get nearly as much love as we'd like,' he says of the non-bloodsucking characters in the Twilight' franchise.

Los Angeles — It's not easy being human. Particularly if you're in a "Twilight" movie and everyone around you is a vampire or a werewolf.
Nevertheless, solid supporting actors like Michael Welch, Anna Kendrick and Christian Serratos have watched their careers blossom over the past year, maximizing small amounts of screen time with endearing, largely improvised dialogue. Now, with "New Moon" about to hit theaters, 28-year-old Justin Chon is ready to steal scenes again alongside his non-bloodsucking buddies — and, with a role in the eye-popping Web short "Turbo," bring some humanity back to Hollywood.

Say what you will about the “Twilight” explosion of the last year – and everybody seems to have an opinion on whether the phenomenon is awesome or annoying – but even the haters should have a hard time complaining about how many of the franchise’s stars are using their newfound power to help young filmmakers. Jackson Rathbone has been hard at work on flicks like “Girlfriend,” Robert Pattinson has been able to bring a wider audience to quirky indies like “Little Ashes” and "How to Be,” and now comes the latest boost from Justin Chon.
“Check out this short film i did with a friend from USC,” Justin Tweeted Wednesday night, posting a link to a vimeo page with an impressive 20-minute-long film called “Turbo.” Also on the page is the trailer, both of which were posted by the film’s director Jarrett Lee Conaway.

In the spirit of Tron Legacy and Gamer comes Jarrett Lee Conaway's Turbo. A short film that combines the the feel good charm of the classic The Karate Kid with near future science fiction. It tells the story of Hugo Park (Justin Chon, Twilight) a misspent youth whose only outlet for angst is a 4D fighting videogame called “Super Turbo Arena”. When Pharaoh King (Jocko Sims, Crash the Series), the Michael Jordan of cyber-sports, announces a tournament to determine who will join his pro-team, Hugo sets his eyes on the prize. But, Hugo isn't the only gamer who wants fame and glory. If Hugo wants to win he's going to have to beat Shamus (David Lehre, Epic Movie), the all time Turbo champ at the local Pandemonium arcade, and Ruse Kapri, a feisty prep girl that knows how to win. Realizing he can't win on his skill alone, Hugo...

"Twilight" covers pretty much turned into the Sports Illustrated cover of hand-modeling gigs, but Kimbra Hickey snagged it, and actor Justin Chon earned my photo pic for the day with his candid TwitPic of her from the weekend. Chon, Peter Facinelli, and Christian Serratos all posted over the weekend, and Serratos contributed her own TwitPic, which you'll find below.
Moving on down the feed, Miley Cyrus appears to have had a good time and a Britney Spears concert, and the two performers exchanged Twitter gushes when it was all over. Ice-t, meanwhile, was not gushing in his criticism toward public reaction Saturday when Jenny Slate dropped the F-bomb on "Saturday Night Live." I'm @brianwarmoth, and you can check out all of those posts, along with more Rose McGowan fan artwork(!), Dane Cook with Andre Agassi and what Amanda Bynes wants in a boyfriend. If the mountain of awards "Twilight" and Robert Pattinson brought in over the weekend at the Teen Choice Awards didn't given him enough to celebrate, Miley Cyrus got giddy about the hug they shared. Wrapping her arms around him evidently gave Miley enough reason to retract any offensive tweets she's made about him in the past. It was also enough to top today's Twitter-Wood report.
Among the other tidbits I picked out for all of you today, Aziz Ansari issued a tweet disputing that he ever voiced a Hillshire Farms commercial, as well as Tyrese Gibson's new haircut and Paris Hilton's run-in with Joel Silver. The lines between celebrities and fans get thrown out the window in many cases at Comic-Con, and posts in the Twitter-Wood feed over the last few days have offered some great insight into who's gushing over whom. Today, Kevin Smith gets sappy about Neil Gaiman, Tyrese gets starry eyed about Jim Lee, and the "Twilight" crew was just happy to show up. I plucked a few pictures and tweets to illustrate.
Comic-Con International is only halfway over, though, and plenty more celebs are just now arriving at the party. "Iron Man 2" director Jon Favreau and Robert Rodriguez can be counted among them. Shoot on down below, and you'll catch details from them, Tom Felton's bizarre encounter at his car, and Wil Wheaton's candid take on Hollywood folks on the show floor. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for July 24, 2009.
