Yay Hetty

Warning: Spoilers
Not too bad. I love that Hetty was in it. There needs to be a lot more of her. They need to have more shows like the early ones with the wisdom and awesomeness of Hetty.

Relaunching the show
Saving2111 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was the season 13 opener and after covid season,Nell&Erick departure, Hetty not going to be there much (Linda Hunt is now special guest star) and Gerald McRaney coming full time as their boss, it was written in My view to relaunch the show, they even had new opening segment. For me it worked, The episode focussed on callen, his past and his work with the Russians. But with that there are issues, callen's past is again being rewritten, his birthdate is different from what was shown to us in early seasons. The all hetty knowing Callen before he was adult is rewritten that was done previously, but now we have him as test subject for her while he was 6 years old! There was no hint for that for over 12 seasons ( only in the second half of season 12 they suggested that) I don't know why they think the viewers won't see that.

But it does give us Callen as maybe he was written in early seasons ,the lone wolf who knows how to do the espionage craft and that can be hetty like. It also gives Chris O'Donnell to show off his acting skills, the all episode he was fantastic, especially his scenes with Linda Hunt. If they keep Callen like this lone wolf ,Hetty like, without his team especially Sam knowing ,that can be good drama.

The Russian story wasn't bad either Joelle was annoying from previous seasons, so seeing that callen&Sam are acting towards her as someone who annoys them and they don't care was fun. Hope they keep it up.

In the end , it was the first episode, the episode that is giving glimpses to the new season,it wasn't bad and it made the new season look interesting.

Warning: Spoilers
The Kensi and Deeks stuff is a waste of both of their characters. This baby thing is something a lot of shows do when they go deep in their runs and since it started in the 12th season and will probably conclude in this 13th season I get it, but I don't want that to be the only thing they are focused on.

Glad to have Hetty back, even if it is just for one episode. She still adds a lot as do the reactions of the other characters to her.

What does not add anything to the show is the continued use of Joelle. I did not buy her threats at all to Callen and just think it is time to stop calling her back.

Uh oh!

With cast departures, writers need to re-boot. OK, so go back to roots, i.e., apprehend bad people threatening the US Navy. Don't go soap opera on viewers. After 12 seasons Callen's identity is a tired subject. Is Adam Schiff writing the Russia conspiracy plot line? Who cares about Deeks family pursuit of a baby? Heddy on a mission to Syria? Really? She's 76 years old. And now agents carry rocket launchers in their trunks? Have we jumped the shark? There is still a good cast and LA has plenty of criminals to chase. Get back on track or Season 13 will be very unlucky.

This Show is Running Out of Ideas
braddtastic24 October 2021
Tired storylines being stretched past their breaking point, Sam's dialog is out of character, Gerald McReany's character is beyond annoying, and the whole thing suddenly has a comic book feel. New and old cast is very talented, which is the only reason this episode was watchable.

How does he get away with it?

Warning: Spoilers
Used to like the character Callen but now he is coming across as a loud mouthed git. In what universe would he get away with talking to his superiors like that.
