Overall another good episode. Here are some of my petty gripes, emphasis on the word "petty". I think the plot of this episode is very predictable. Afterall, what were the writers going to do only 5 episodes in, destroy the ship and all the crew leaving just those on the shuttle to carry the rest of the series? Of course not! So even though the writers are trying to tell us that The Destiny is about to be destroyed I think we all knew there was no way the writers could actually let that happen so early in the series. It's because of this that you really have to suspend disbelief for this episode. It was a good idea but maybe it should've been written in a manner that was less predictable. Or maybe go ahead and shock the hell out of us and actually destroy The Destiny and its crew and make Stargate Universe a 5 episode mini-series! LOL.

Swimming in the sea of energy

One of my most favorable SF-Episodes, mostly because of the visuals and the music. Unfortunately, here is the beginning of those annoying V-logs, always crying for the fwd button. Which cost the episode the 10/10.

When the ship plunges into the corona of the star, it seems to take a deep sip of pure energy, "to replenish its reserves". The line "This is what Destiny intended from the moment it entered the system" is from this episode.

Of course everyone knows that the crew cannot burn in the sun's atmosphere after only five episodes, of course you see that we aren't flying towards the center, but the moment itself is celebrated with breathtaking CGI fireworks in cinema quality.

After the second climax with the rescue of the 17 "settlers", the episode ends with a discord, instead of a great relief. That may be disappointing, but follows the rather dark and disillusioned tone of the show.

Refuel...of course

Wasn't it obvious to everyone watching that the super intelligent ancient space ship knew how to recharge itself? Previously it knew that it needed limestone. Cool idea for a show though. I'm not really sure why it matters if someone thought they might survive. It was by no means certain.

I just started watching this show and i might stop because of this episode. They have most of the episode doing a very long dramatic farewell only to go "oh wait we're not dying the ship is just refueling" which i guessed would have happened. While i don't want to see the whole cast die it is awful and just dumb to have that long goodbye they did and drawing straws. So essentially it was all pointless and served the sole function of lengthening the episode.

Then they rescue the shuttle which was another predictable move. Nobody died, nobody was hurt, and at no time did anyone take any real risk
