For Final Fantasy IV, the game features a hidden programmer's room where programmers disguised as sprites and monsters from the game, left messages directly to the player. The room was entirely cut out back in 1991 when the game was released in the U.S., largely because of an item that can be found in the room. Upon the re-release on the Playstation, the room came back with the item intact, called "Playboy", or "Penthouse" in other translated versions.
For Chrono Trigger, The Super Nintendo (1995) and PlayStation (2001) versions were never released in Europe. The PlayStation version featured anime cut scenes and bonus features, but also suffered heavily from pre-battle load times. In 2008 the game was released for the Nintendo DS - which contains the best elements of both previous versions with a new translation and a few new features. The same version was re-released as a downloadable game on the PlayStation Network in 2011, for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation Portable. The game was available on the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console channel from May 16, 2011 until the Wii Virtual Console shutdown on March 26, 2018. A Microsoft Windows version was released via Steam in 2018.
Magus's three generals, Ozzie, Slash, and Flea, are named after famous musicians: Ozzy Osbourne, former lead singer for Black Sabbath; Slash, guitarist for Guns n' Roses; and Flea, bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
For Final Fantasy IV, Cecil is the only character to be in every single battle.
For Chrono Trigger, this game is infamous for the button mashing mini games, one that's optional is the soda drinking contest at the Millennial Fair and the one that's required to play at Alya's prehistoric dance party with the soup drinking contest, in the Super Nintendo version if the player had a turbo controller, it made the soda drinking and soup drinking contest game much easier to win. However in the Nintendo DS and on the Wii virtual console version the player has no turbo button option and therefore it's much harder to win especially at the unavoidable soup drinking contest with Alya where you have to mash the A button until the player finally wins and can move on with the game.
