- Fresh out of juvenile prison, Tommy has sworn off the drugs. But when the going gets tough, the only support he finds is from his best friend Sule - who has "the master plan": one last drug deal to finance their own auto body shop.
- Tommy and Sule are an unlikely pair, yet they have been inseparable since their elementary school days when the Turkish kid defended the shy and timid Tommy against some bullies. Adventurous Sule always managed to convince his friend of crazy ideas, like the one to sell dope in order to make some money, and that someday they would own their own auto body shop. So Sule dropped out of school in order to become a car mechanic. Not long before their graduation, his girlfriend Sina introduced Tommy to the idea that they could go away to college together. Before it could come to this, the police searched Tommy's room and found a substantial amount of marijuana. His six months in juvenile prison, with cell mates who relentlessly tormented him, proved to be a living hell. The story sets in with Sule picking Tommy up as he gets released from jail. He expects their life to continue just like before - one big party. But Tommy is out on parole and wants to avoid another stint in prison at all costs. Therefore he has sworn off the drugs and instead wants to find out who snitched on him and put him in this hell hole. A lot of things have changed during the time he was gone, and none of them for the better: Sule is on parole as well, which doesn't seem to concern him too much, he quit his job as a mechanic, but still holds on to the dream about their auto body shop. The American soldiers who were stationed in his Bavarian home town of Wuerzburg as long as Tommy can remember are gone, and Sina makes it clear that she doesn't want to see him any more. Predictably, Tommy's resolve to keep away from drugs doesn't last too long. But the night he smokes his first joint with Sule again he finds out that his friend is dealing with harder drugs now. He is truly shocked, especially because they almost got caught by the police with the stuff. From there, things are spiralling down quickly. Tommy realizes that Sule is not only dealing with harder drugs but also using them and becoming more and more erratic. Also, he is still hunting for the snitch who put him in jail and now suspects one of their posse, Keiler, an aspiring rapper. Even good-natured Clay, an American soldier who stayed behind when his unit was sent back to the United States and is now living in Germany illegally, has a hard time to calm Tommy down and convince him that Keiler didn't betray him. Right after that, Clay is brutally assaulted by two Americans and sustains some severe knife wounds. The next day, Tommy visits Clay in the hospital and finds out the reason for the attack: Clay used to be a gang member in Los Angeles and got caught in a robbery. In order to be able to join the army instead of having to go to jail, he snitched on one of his comrades - a guy who seemed to be successful in building a better life for himself. Now he had returned to get his revenge. All of a sudden it dawns on Tommy who snitched on him: none other than Sule who was afraid that Tommy would move away with Sina and leave him behind. Tommy confronts him and effectively ends their friendship. Meanwhile Sina decided to give Tommy a second chance and they meet in a café. Sule sees them, comes in and instigates a fight in which the place gets completely trashed. Since they have violated parole, they are both put on trial again. Tommy is offered a deal that could keep him out of prison if he incriminates his former friend. He agrees. However, when he is asked to repeat his statement at Sule's trial in court so it could be used against him, he decides against it, even though he knows that this will put him back in jail. Before Tommy has to start his own sentence, he visits Sule who already is in prison. Sule sports a black eye and is in bad shape. However, he understands what Tommy has done for him, but otherwise is not quite in touch with reality. He hands Tommy a note with a phone number where he can contact him while in jail and in the end even apologizes for his betrayal. While Tommy is concerned for Sule, he also realizes that he will never get ahead in life if he has Sule clinging to him. On the way out he drops the note with the phone number. His second term in prison is going to be different: Tommy knows that Sina will stand by him and he will use the time to prepare for a career as a physics teacher.
