Definitely, there was a cross-over between this series and LEAVE IT TO BEAVER. How many times did either Beave or Wally get into trouble because of their pals?
Everything falls on Ernie, who has two "creative" friends, Clifford and Gordon, who suggest he sell some old tires just hanging around the house. Who would miss them? Obviously, it's best to ask, right? Ernie doesn't and Uncle Charley calls the cops, thinking they've been robbed!
Ernie was always a good kid... but he had to learn a lesson here, and there's a super ending with Steve having that poignant father and son talk. Well written by Doug Tibbles, who wrote over 30 classic episode for the show. Doug passed in 2023.
Two well known child actors appear here; foremost Sheldon Collins (as Clifford), who was a regular on the ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW, playing Arnold. Sheldon was on many popular tv shows, later changing careeres and becoming a dentist.
Kevin Tate (as Gordon) appeared in many classic movies and had the honor of working with Clint Eastwood. Look for Joel Fluellen as the police sergeant, who appeared in many cops shows, such as MANNIX. Joel was a long time advocate for better roles for black actors. A pioneer in Hollywood.
