The fans are doing it better on YouTube.

Warning: Spoilers
The entire meaning behind the Railway Series was not to teach kids about "the power of friendship and teamwork", it was designed to teach kids about trains and both the books, the first seven seasons of the show as well as the eighteenth season fully delivered. This show is probably the most childish rubbish I have ever seen. Go see the original seasons with Ringo Starr and Michael Angelis, they won't damage your brain cells.

This is not thomas
chikopakogaming28 August 2022
I love both the model and CGI versions of Thomas. I didn't hate BWBA that much either, but this is a whole new level. Even magic railroad is a great compared to this. This has tons and TONS of problems. First of all, why are the voice actors mostly all kids? The voice acting is simply terrible. Next, it's unrealistic. A lot of why Thomas was so good was because of how realistic it was. Now the engines are basically using their wheels as hands. There is no physics at all, and it is no longer as fun to watch crashes. The animation is obviously budget, and it is way to cartoony for Thomas. The sound effects are horrible too. Did I mention that there is no James, Edward, and Toby? And Gordon is basically the new fat controller. And diesel is now friends with Thomas. Oh, and Carly has wheels now? I don't get it. And also, the new theme song is also terrible. Like previously, Thomas had such good music. I think the CGI era had as good or maybe even better music than the model era. But this? The songs are just bad. Also, WHAT IN THE WORLD IS TRAIN SCHOOL?? Watch the old Thomas, don't waste your time with this garbage. This is a disgrace.

Desecration to Awdry's legacy
BoxwoodExpress13 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Poor Awdry, he must be looking down from Heaven with disapproval along with David Mitton, George Carlin, and Michael Angelis. Britt Allcroft similarly does not approve.

This show ruins everything that Thomas stood for. Thomas and Friends is popular because the characters are well rounded, the stories are strong and written well, and it adheres to railway realism despite the fantasy elements. Despite Thomas and his friends being locomotives, they seemed like real people to us.

Plus, the original Thomas was a very calm show, making it popular with autistic people such as myself. All Engines Go is a rapid fire mess with pacing faster than the speed of sound, flat characters (including Kana, one that seems to be plagiarized from a fan OC), and most importantly ....

It's very unrealistic. I know it's a cartoon, but Thomas was praised specifically because it was realistic to real life railways. This one isn't. The characters bounce off the rails and even uses their wheels as hands. Not even Chuggington got this bad.

Avoid this ableist, pandering, sensory overload mess and watch the original Thomas the Tank Engine. It's much better.

Very bad
andrewwelsh-9997923 August 2021
This is an insult to anyone who remotely says they like Thomas. Mattel is killing this franchise from its toys to the actual seasons of the show and now a crappy reboot. Is this show good for toddlers, maybe. But to anyone else it is a pile of hot garbage. If you are watching this with your kids or by yourself I highly assume you will want to glue your ears and eyes shut.

All Engines Go destroyed the legacy of Thomas & Friends and Wilbert Awdry's creation!
dylanmmay25 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's a big derailment. Just so sad, so disappointing, so horrible, so very heartbreaking. The most greatest beloved nostalgic show that we've all enjoyed and grew up with that shows Best visuals, Great Engine Characters with great personalities who are all based on Real Life Engine Class Types, and taught us everything how it works on Railways and accidents that are based on real events that was the inspiration for the creator Rev. W. Awdry to make it into a story out of it and all the Lores of The Railway Series/Thomas & Friends that few may not know about has officially became a ginormous Train Wreck.

Wtf

Pretty bad I have not seen anything Tomas related before and this was not a good introduction. It looks like every other show on the market nowadays. I will not be showing this to my kids and I will try to show them something of quality.

What on earth we're they thinking?
kate-149533 May 2022
What is the point of this cartoon? You have the characters and the brand, but seeing as the heart, soul and point of Thomas have been so ripped out, it looks like they are merely used cynically to have an automatic audience. It would've been more appropriate for Mattel to create entirely new characters, given the radical gear shift, and created a new Mighty Express or Chuggington.

Some of us care about Reverend Awdry's legacy and the world he created. It has endured for of all the reasons the creators of this series feels it can so easily jettison. The realism of the trains, their personalities which match their class and usage. Showing how railways actually work and how engines and other machinery work together.

Generations of children understand this and respond to this and even the more creative CGI series of late have these values at their heart. Thomas directly inspires my son's interest with steam railways and I'm sure Thomas boosts visitor tickets to these places. Legions of autistic children and adults who have a special interest in railways are loyal to this show, just look at the fan videos on YouTube.

This show and the characters are not Thomas and Friends. They were never meant to be children and never meant to leap about track to track, or for the stories to be fast paced or even cartoonised. If the creators think that Thomas is no longer relevant then they needed to do the decent thing and shelve or cancel it. This stinks of cynicism and has no respect for the show, it's history or it's creator. My hope is that Thomas will eventually be restored to his former glory. Oh, and John Hasler was an awesome Thomas, what a waste.

Bring back the original!
rjclassiccar4 September 2022
As a child growing up in the 90's Thomas introduced me to so many mechanical and historically important steam train related facts that as an adult to two young children would like to see them educated similarly.

Watched this garbage the other day with them and was horrified. From the awful Children choir introduction sing along, to the flexy/leaning on 3 wheels round a bend nonsense to the excruciatingly annoying narrator on the Thomas voice especially.

I still relate 30 years on to Edward gradually picking his coaches up one by one in order to pull the heavy train, Thomas fitting his snow plow and Henry being punished and bricked up in the tunnel for being mardy.

All the above contributed to me as a child having a good basic understanding of the railway, steam engines and array of vehicles used within it. Helicopters, tractors, traction engines, buses etc.. but also how to deal with situations in general life as a youngster. The characters were so strong it helped me understand what was good, bad, fair and honest.

Seems silly writing this as it shouldn't matter, but can't hide the fact it does. My Mrs thinks i'm nuts. Thankfully I can show them the original Rev Awdrey design via you tube. I bet he would be angered to see his legacy destroyed.

Shame, totally spoiled. Scrap this before kids and adults alike ditch it!

If you're going to start your kids on Thomas, show them the ORIGINAL, and not this!

Literally everything that made Thomas so memorable is gone!

Have no ties to old show
chadtwilliamsen13 November 2023
As a show for my 2-year old, it's great, features a new song almost every episode and characters she can identify with along with simple story arcs. If you're looking for a show for your CHILD and not a cartoon as a 30-40 year old to relive your childhood this show does its job.

There are plenty of female characters and characters with their own issues that they are dealing with in each episode. The colors, animation and overall look are happy, as well as the songs and the conversations that take place between the characters. The show focuses on the trains and less on people on the town and because it's a cartoon extends disbelief as the trains can do more than go forward or backwards on a track.

I won't show this to my future kids.
gwr-9793013 September 2021
I saw All Engines Go when it came out on Cartoon Network and I do not like it for reasons. Thomas & Friends has always been a long time running British Show for years and still holds up the popularity to this day until this Separated American Show came along. The realism of Railway is so very low and cartoony in this then Thomas & Friends where it percent how real engines do and when they are driven by their Drivers and Firemens. The big number one question I have is, If they do that well off-track, why do they even need the tracks? And Annie & Clarabelle can literally move by themselves which is a huge shock. If All Engines Go is strictly made for 2- year olds, then I wanted to see Thomas & Friends return with CGI Series 25 in Future for all ages to enjoy T&F and for 2-3 year olds to enjoy AEG and they might like Thomas & Friends better when they get older, so both T&F and AEG would run and continue separately. But if only AEG runs and not T&F, then I would forget about this show.

Loss Of Identity
gachajacky29 August 2021
As the Unlucky Tug said, Thomas & Friends stuck out as a show, doing its own thing. Now, it's like many other pieces of media and it isn't doing its own thing.

Off the rails...
johnnycattlemusic28 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, I know Thomas & Friends is meant to be for mainly young children & infants, but this is just awful on so many levels. The whole point of what made thomas and friends so great is it made children interested in learning about trains and railways. I don't particularly care for the cgi either but they still respected the ethos of rev w awdry. I think by dumbing down all the train vernacular and going full cartoonish, you take away all the substance of what drew most young children to thomas and trains in the first place and narrow ( and alienate ) your overall target audience even further. I also think thomas and friends is a huge reason why a lot of ( non profit ) british steam railways are still going too. So KEEP THE LEGACY OF STEAM RAILWAYS & REVEREND AWDRY ALIVE & DO YOUR HOMEWORK MATTEL!

That's Disgraceful, Disgusting, and Dispicable! That's not a true Thomas and Friends show, that's so ugly! Terrible Show Ever
sirjosh93 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I do not this reboot at all, it ain't the same as the model and the CGI series where I grew up. Worst of all, they've ruined my favorite characters like Edward and Henry. I ain't planning to showing it to anyone, not even. It's nothing but a waste of good animation.

This reboot is awful
JackDanaher20011 September 2021
I reviewed this on my youtube channel and I cannot stand watching this awful reboot anymore. Seriously, wheels as hands and they can turn their heads? The logic makes ZERO sense and this reboot is making the original creator spinning in his grave faster than ever. Now kids will never know what it's like what real trains do in real life. I thought BWBA was bad but this puts a whole new layer on the cake. I highly recommend DO NOT WATCH THIS TRASH!

Absolutely disgusting. Would not recommend
mg-1206511 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As a Thomas fan, this is a downright outrage and literally makes Big world Big adventures look like the railway series in comparison. This is the worst the series has faced and is a huge disrespect to the Rev. W. Awdry. Literally everything is wrong. Gordon is Thomas's father, 90% of the cast is gone (many of them being Awdry characters) and diesel is a good guy. This is by far the worst ever Thomas related piece of media that Mattel have ever produced.

what a ridiculous way to ruin my childhood 😡
josephurrutia3 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Really mattel? Why did you have to mess up thomas and give him such a horrible redesign? And why did you end thomas and friends just so you can make up such a horrible cartoon reboot? Seriously mattel, screw you! You should really cancel it right now and bring back the original series! Nobody wants to see this garbage. Also the voice acting is so bad, god no, no, no, just cancel it right now man! I don't want it to be seen on tv. 👎

Fantastic fun show
elicezanker26 October 2023
Thomas and Friends All Engines Go! Is a fun and brilliant show that teaches children valuable life lessons, like how to be kind, solve issues in life, overcome emotions and how to handle other situations, like when other people are having a hard day, or when a grown up is in a bad mood or having trouble coping. There's even a brake car called Bruno that gets overwhelmed when there's chaos or a lot of noise or panic, who steams on some headphones to keep calm and think the problem through, I can relate to him XD This is one of my favourite shows to watch with the kids and they love it too. Give it a go!

How do you mess up Thomas? Like this
richardhj17 December 2021
It should be a rhetorical question. How do you mess up Thomas? It's a solid concept with a grounded lore and you use that as a starting base for your stories.

The newer Thomas and his friends was further from the original source material then when I was a child but it was still pretty solid and at least made a distinction between the trains and the humans around them.

This absolute mess is a ridiculous disappointment. Especially as is now what is show on morning TV that my children watch. Like others have said it is just so chaotic and so abstract from everything Thomas was.

Awful art style, mundane stories, they inhabit a clearly cartoon world opposed to what was previously presented as the real world, they jump around, pick things up with the wheels that become extendable arms, the theme tune is joke and the way the characters are presented is weird.

In the UK anyway, on TV at the moment you have the big hitters, Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, Fire Sam and Thomas. I'm not saying they are all brilliant but the point is they stand out as unique concepts and are instantly recognisable. This new Thomas.. it could easily be any other of the background filler shows with abstract stories, poorly written episodes, generic cartoony look.. the fact they are trains is just completely incidental.

A joke.

A decent preschool show, but could've done better
kof-5307613 September 2021
I know this series has gathered a lot of hate during the past few months, but if you ask me, All Engines Go is the perfect genre of preschool revival; taking a very cherished property, toning down its' characters to appeal to the target audience (even if some might be scared), and providing a Sesame Street kind of feeling where the series' most popular characters live, work and play together while learning life's most important lessons along the way. Not only that, but the guy behind it all, Ricky Suvalle, seems genuinely passionate about the franchise's legacy and, despite the executive meddling from his superiors, supposedly knew it well. Although this series wasn't created purely from the crew's respect, Nelvana's animation feels alive, carefree and reminds me of Mixels for obvious reasons. Again, I get that you probably want this to die, but we'll have to live with it for a while, and in the end, all I have to say is this: All Engines Go is okay, but it probably won't last long.

What are you on Mattel?
jgqgfn20 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Seriously, what was going through their heads when they came up with this abomination? As a life long Thomas and Friends lover, this just feels absolutely despicable! It's too unrealistic compared to the Thomas and Friends we love, the characters are now just awful which is a huge disappointment, and I feel sickened just by watching this! I'll gladly choose to watch any Thomas and Friends series of movie that came before this. You need to fix yourself Mattel, because this won't get you anywhere.

While the animation is alright, and the voice acting is decent, there's no way this series was even remotely good, this is an insult to what came before, and disrespectful to the original series' legacy.
