A very iconic song

This angry outcry and protest song is one of my favorite songs of all time and I never get tired of it. Former Sex-Pistols frontman John Lydon and his underrated group Public Image Limited (Ltd, in some versions, PIL for the more intimates) is a powerful and magnificent song with passionate lyrics and pulsating rhythm. As for the video that follow such sounds we have a slightly awkward video where Mr. Lydon uses of his amazing facial expressions to perform the song.

There he is, with wild, crazed and frightening expressions wearing a suit that feels a lot larger on him, slightly opened, almost reminding us of another frontman who had the habit of wearing clothes bigger than him and that is Talking Heads' David Byrne. And Lydon moves a little, wide open arms and yells the potent lyrics that echo in our heads, specially the immortal dualities of our lives and how things could have been: "I could be wrong, I could be right; I could be black, I could be white!". Along with his performance in this sort of abandoned place where the wind blows dust, papers and everything there are three other ragged beggar characters randomly pointing out to a distant figure or something - we can't know exactly, it's all very mysterious and I cannot form a true connection with the words that are presented to us.

I don't know much about PIL except for the fact that their sound is a lot different than punk masters Sex Pistols, this is more in tune with the 1980's and in fact is their biggest track to date. And it marks as being one of the greatest sounds ever created, poetic and relevant to life. Truly outstanding. 9/10.
