Dinosaur Train is a cartoon that’s listed as American, Canadian, and Singaporean in nature and is just what it sounds like. The train passes through several different time periods as the passengers and main characters, namely Buddy the T-Rex and his adopted Pteranodon family, experience everything from meeting other dinosaurs to watching exploding volcanoes. The show is designed to be educational and engaging, and it does raise certain questions about species and heritage as well since Buddy is obviously a different kind of animal than his adopted family. This kind of theme was added no doubt to help children that

PBS and Amazon have come to a deal that will see Amazon Prime become the subscription-video-on-demand home for the bulk of PBS' kids programming. The companies did not disclose the terms of what they said was a "multi-year" agreement.
The shows will continue to air first on PBS stations, then be available on Amazon after a certain period of time. The new deal does not include future series that PBS may introduce, while some of the network's popular programs stream elsewhere such as "Super Why" which remains at Netflix and "Curious George" at Hulu.
The agreement gives Amazon streaming rights to nineteen series overall, ranging from relatively new launches like "Nature Cat," "Ready Jet Go," "Odd Squad," "Peg + Cat" and "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood"; to mainstays such as "Wild Kratts," "Martha Speaks," "Dinosaur Train" and "Cyberchase"; to classics including "Reading Rainbow," "Caillou" and "Fetch! It may be a lot of notice, but PBS Kids has announced a new show, Ready Jet Go!, that will be coming out Winter 2016, and this one looks very cool.
Not only am I a big fan of anything that’s pretty serious about delivering on an educational component, but this one focuses on astronomy, technology, scientific exploration, innovation and invention. That sounds pretty awesome.
There’s obviously very little information, but there is some, and I only wish it were going to be around sooner, because I’d love a show to share with my kids right now that had elements of astronomy, invention, and all the rest.
Keep your eyes out for more on this one.

Jim Henson's industrious (and very green) Doozers are back, this time via the new animated preschool series Doozers, set to launch Friday, April 25, on Hulu.
The Doozers were first seen on Henson's long-running kids show Fraggle Rock, which ran on HBO for much of the 1980s. For the reboot, Doozers will focus on four enthusiastic kids (the "Pod Squad") who live in eco-friendly Doozer Creek and engineer their dreams into reality.
Hulu has ordered 52 episodes of Doozers from The Jim Henson Company (Dinosaur Train) and Dhx Media (Yo Gabba Gabba). The show launches with seven episodes on Hulu Plus, followed by a cycle of three more new episodes every third Friday (with some exceptions for holidays and special stunts). Episodes will also eventually appear on Hulu.com in blocks of five episodes.

Children matter when it comes to money matters. If you don’t believe me, just check out which film was the highest grossing this week. That’s right, it was a kids movie. Netflix has made continuous strides to keep kids happy with their program offerings, but now their competitor, Amazon, is seeking to do the same. Amazon’s new deal with PBS will help.
A new multi-year deal between Amazon and some important names in children’s entertainment means that Amazon is well prepared to continue to compete with Netflix. The new multi-year deal includes Nova, Masterpiece and Ken Burns documentaries and PBS Kids series including Caillou, Arthur, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Dinosaur Train and Wild Kratts, the companies say. The arrangement continues the arms race with Netflix to land children’s shows — kids are a key market for streaming services. (Netflix recently announced a major deal with DreamWorks Animation.) Amazon says that the PBS Kids shows will be available on its Kindle FreeTime Unlimited service, which, paradoxically for a service that bills itself as being “unlimited,” is designed to help parents limit viewing time. The new arrangement along with Amazon’s recent deal with Viacom to offer shows including Dora the Explorer, Go Diego, Go!, and The Backyardigans ”brings some of the most popular kids programming to Prime Instant Video, making it the perfect place for the whole family to catch up on all their favorites,” says Director of...

Halle Stanford, Executive Producer and Executive Vice President of Children’s Entertainment at the Jim Henson Company (which produced the Amazon original pilot, Teeny Tiny Dogs), shares the key to family happiness: the oxygen mask.
As a mother of two boys (a teen and a toddler) and owner of two small dogs, I grab those “Mommy Moments” whenever I can find them. You know, hiding in my bathroom for 15 minutes with the latest Game of Thrones book (“Mommy has to go potty. I’ll be riiiight back!”). Mommy Moments make me one happy momma.
I learned this happy parent lesson years ago when I was going through a difficult divorce, and was worried about the happiness of my son. A wise friend told me, “You know what Rabbi Airplane says? Put your oxygen mask on before your kids. Your son will be happy if you are happy.” And lo, my pal was right.

AmazonStudios is taking a more unusual approach by letting viewers decide what they want to keep watching. The company has kicked off its screening process this weekend by unveiling its inaugural slate of 14 pilots — eight comedies and six kids shows, all made available for free on AmazonInstant Video, LoveFilm UK and LoveFilm Germany. Viewers are being invited to watch the pilots and Amazon is welcoming feedback from its audience. According to Deadline, the company will evaluate feedback from an online panel recruited on Amazon preview as well as traditional offline focus groups to decide if they greenlight a series or not. The highest-profile series is Zombieland, but the two that look most interesting are Alpha House, starring John Goodman with cameos by Bill Murray and Stephen Colbert; and Onion News Empire. Amazon has not yet decided how many of the shows will make the cut, nor when they will premiere.

LOVEFiLM members in the UK and Germany will be able to watch the content and viewer response will then help determine which series Amazon Studios take into full-season production. The move follows the announcement of Amazon Studios’ first pilot production commitment last December which gave six original comedy shows the green light. It brings the total number of Amazon Studios pilots currently in production to 11.
The eleven pilots include:

Books have been a mainstay in Hollywood's never-ending search for film ideas, and while the adage "you should read the book" will never leave the mouths of frustrated moviegoers, a few more tomes have been picked up for film adaptation. As usual, there may be a few who are disappointed.
Young Adult fans might be familiar with author Libba Bray's "Gemma Doyle Trilogy," but probably less so with her upcoming "The Diviners." Set for release in September, "The Diviners" is the first of what will be a four-part series that will follow Evie O'Neill, a young New York transplant, who must use her mysterious powers to stop a series of occult-based murders. Since the book has yet to be published, we're sure that there's not many who will be bummed that their favorite book might get compromised on its way to the big screen. Still, those eventual fans might...

The 1970's children's "I Can Read" books "Frog and Toad" are heading for a big screen animated adventure. Jim Henson Co., the company that created The Muppets and all their films, will make the movie. Craig Bartlett, the creator and writer of the kids TV series "Dinosaur Train" and "Hey Arnold!", is writing the screenplay. Hoodwinked! writer-director Cory Edwards will helm. "Frog and Toad' author Arnold Lobel's children Adrienne Lobel and Adam Lobel will produce.
What this means is that the silver screen will soon be hopping with toads since at least two Mr. Toad movies are in development (Wind in the Willows and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride).

It's a movie about anthropomorphic amphibians from the company famous for bringing The Muppets to our screens, but there's not so much as a flash of Kermit the frog to be seen. The Jim Henson Company is preparing to adapt the children's books Frog and Toad for the multiplexes, according to Variety.
There are four instalments in Arnold Lobel's series, published between 1970 and 1979 and still hugely popular with children. All focus on the title characters, a friendly frog and his rather more curmudgeonly toad friend. Lobel, who died in 1987, wrote and illustrated each of the books.
"Frog and Toad has tremendous value with parents who read these charming stories when they were children and are now sharing them with their own kids," said Lisa Henson of the Jim Henson Company.

While we’re pleased to see the Jim Henson Company continuing to expand its filmmaking horizons, the team’s latest announcement does have us worrying whether Kermit – heretofore the company’s most famous amphibian actor – will throw a diva fit at the news. Because the new Henson project is an adaptation of children’s books series Frog And Toad. Originally written and illustrated by Arnold Lobel in the 1970s, the books chronicle the exploits of a pair of web-footed friends who are, less-than-shockingly, a frog and a toad. The book’s tales are easy-to-comprehend slice-of-life stories, with the pair flying a kite, cleaning a house and arguing about the shortcomings of string theory. All right, maybe not the last one.Craig Bartlett, a man no stranger to writing for a younger audience (he’s worked on Us kids’ shows such as Dinosaur Train, Sid The Science Kid and Hey Arnold!
