This was produced in 2020 (the end credits say so) and we get a fascinating look into Taiwan and its amazing mountains. The passengers are wearing face masks as was the time to do so.
Bill Nighy is superb as the narrator but it's a shame he doesn't appear on-screen in any of the episodes. I would love for Bill to traverse the carriages dispensing bon mots to bemused passengers. But in a way, the absence of Bill Nighy from the screen ensures the series isn't about him, unlike other rail series where the focus is sometimes too presenter-centric.
I've never been to Taiwan and I'm pleased the producers didn't go into the tropes of war and so on as the cliche.
