Elizabeth is seen horseback riding with one leg on each side. Even if a lady or princess would be allowed on horseback, she would sit on a small padded seat behind a man. An early version of the side saddle was already invented but did not allow a woman full control of the horse, so the horse needed to be led by someone. It is impossible that Elizabeth ever rode alone.
