No Threesome for the tenants

Warning: Spoilers
What's the first thing that springs to mind when you mention an adult version of Three's Company? A threesome between Jack, Janet & Chrissy. Well that's exactly what's missing from this two hour plus feature. Sure they each have sex - once. Chrissy (Brynn Tyler) twice if you count masturbation, as each of Will Ryder's Sitcums starts with the lead girl pleasuring herself and ends with her having sex in the last or second to last scene. Sure, Jack (Van Damage) has a threesome with two hot young chicks but it's just not the same when they're not the lead characters. Most disappointingly, my favorite, Janet (Penny Flame) doesn't even have sex with a man.

Jack has lost his job and of course Mr. Roper (Dino Bravo) wants them to pay up right away since he and the Mrs (Nina Hartley) are about to go to Tijuana to visit the eye doctor. Right away all the usual sitcom misunderstandings and Chrissy's particular way of telling an anecdote (I had almost forgotten about that) enter the story. And there's a whole lot of that stuff happening in between the sex scenes as well. As a writer, Will Ryder really knows the source material, but as far as the humor is concerned, maybe he should hire some more people to help out with the jokes.

Chrissy gets a job handing out fliers and of course Janet & Jack immediately misinterpret her words and think she's working as a streetwalker. True to the series, Jack is being stalked by Lana (Sienna West popping out of her Disco Queen T-shirt). He leaves her alone with Larry (Tommy Gunn), who wastes no time maneuvering her into Chrissy and Janet's bedroom. Later on Chrissy introduces her little sister Madison (Madison Scott) to the two J's. After Jack cooks Madison dinner, she expresses a craving for his spotted dick. In the middle of their thirst, her friend Allyssa (Allyssa Hall) comes in and joins them for no particular reason. So it seems the producers did feel the need to have Jack get it on with two girls, just not the right ones. A little later a tipsy Janet bring her nameless girlfriend (Roxy Jezel) home, who takes advantage of Janet's inebriated state and takes the lead. Maybe I should be happy with what the film offers, but somehow all of these side characters just don't do it for me.

For some reason Dino Bravo always gets to play older parts in these Sitcums and mostly doesn't even get laid (see Not Bewitched & Not Married with Children). At least this time around he gets a sloppy BJ from Nina Hartley (who's also had her share of non-sex roles in other Will Ryder flicks as well). This is after Helen uncovers Stanley's collection of dirty magazines. Meanwhile Chrissy has hurt her foot walking on glass so Jim the Bartender (Ron Jeremy's customary cameo) gets her an appointment with his doctor uncle, James Bartholet. This scene goes on way too long, especially since we all now Bartholet never has sex on screen. It's a relief when he finally brings in his protégé Dr. Von Trapp (Eric Swiss) so they can get down to Chrissy's second scene and first full intercourse.

But wait, there's more: Larry has ordered a girl from the All Night Escort Agency using Jack Tripper's name. But when Jack insist Larry comes along to the Regal Beagle, the prostitute (Jenny Hendrix) ends up with the new maintenance man, Mr. Furley. Who would have thought that the climax involves Ralph Furley. That was unpredictable, but not exactly what I was hoping for from this title. Oh well, maybe Brynn, Penny & Van will get together for a trio in another film sometime. It's a small world after all.

Lose the laugh/applause track and you still would have a clunker. But with that "comical" crutch intact you have yet another unwatchable parody by Will Ryder aka Jeff Mullen and his partner in crime Scott David.

Scott is responsible for the dreadful wigs (oh how funny they look, hardy-har-har) worn by Tommy Gunn, Nina Hartley and in his usual unfunny cameo Ron Jeremy.

The poor performances fall on Ryder's plate, porn actors well aware of the flimsiness of the material. One suspects they would readily admit to doing gonzo instead.

Not quite a saving grace is the inclusion in the lead roles of jail-bait beauty Brynn Tyler and the reliably bubbly Penny Flame: they're worth watching.
