Tried everything but gone in vein
majumderrupak27 August 2021
Filmmakers tried to include everything in this - Romance, Thriller, Horror, Sleazy,Sci-Fi, Rabindra Sangeet, but at the end it has become a mess! Considering the world class actors - they did their job well, but while trying to put everything in the story it turned out to be 'Khichdi'.

A Chilling Thriller Adaptation 🔥
mutaherhossainshourovhrh13 August 2021
Rekka was a best seller thriller in both Bangla. The enigmatic Mushkan Zuberi is the main point of infatuation & also the ultimate twist. Now let's talk about the series. Firstly Badhon played Mushkan Zuberi very well. Specially the enigma that she carried & the body language, way of delivering dialogues was so spectacular. Then Rahul Bose did well also. Readers mustn't try to compare him with Nure Sofa. Becase it was changed according to the direction. Both Anirban made a new stereotype with their roles & it was good. Sometimes, the story might be seemed very slow but it will follow you at the last. In short, it's a medicore good series in view of comparison from other cringy fests.

Loved the Acting and Direction, But...
The story, written by the author, resembles a Bengali telefilm which was aired back in 2005 on a Indian Bengali TV Channel. Hats off to the acting of Mr. Rahul Bose, Mr. Anirban Bhattacharya and Mr. Anjan Dutta. Also, the direction by Mr. Srijit Mukherji deserves a huge round of applause.

I urge Mr. Srijit to make web series based on his own story ,next time, rather than borrowing someone else's.

Mr. Mukherji, This Was Not Expected of You!
SoumikBanerjee199616 August 2021
Outside of its imposing Cinematography or the mystifying Score (With an innate classical touch); the rest of the execution is plain ridiculous on so many levels. So much so that it comes across as intolerable at particular times. For a Srijit Mukherji directorial; I wasn't expecting any of that.

The series miserably falls flat for all intents and purposes. Whether it be the barrage of idiotic dialogues (Preposterous betweentimes), the monotonous nature of its Screenplay, or the countless loopholes and continuity errors (can't remember the last time I spotted so many of those); every single impediment seems to have led to its ultimate downfall.

Despite having a fascinating concept at their disposal; the makers couldn't really capitalize on its core prospects. This whole adaptation has failed us big time. I seriously can't tell how disgusted and infuriated It was to sit through the entirety of all nine episodes.

Not to mention, I absolutely despised Rahul Bose as Nirupam Chanda. He was simply vexatious, overly dramatic, and I find him to be an unfortunate choice for this specific role. On the other end, Badhon did respectably well as Mushkan Zuberi. Nothing fancy but she definitely got the gist! Anirban Bhattacharya as Atar Ali would be another honorable mention. And what about the rest? Well, the less you know the better.

Mr. Mukherji, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!

Screenplay just ruined the story..
tanzimnowsin15 August 2021
Direction and screenplay just spoiled the whole plot, essence of the story, the theme of it is very different from the storyline we know from the novel. It lost its thrill, appeal to watch the series. It shouldn't Indianised while the whole plot is embedded in other culture. Very disappointed with the work of screen play and direction.

Good but not enough

Warning: Spoilers
Very good creation from the original book but it has failed to create such suspense upto episode 4.

Of you didn't read the main novel than it's a good thriller series for you.

5en5ei18 August 2021
Thank god, Rabindranath never went to eat there otherwise he couldn't digest the dishes(the show).

Never before heard someone singing Rabindrasangeet without any emotion at all.

What happened to Srijit?? Has he lost it?

Total waste of a good plot.
jioniut17 August 2021
Compared to novel this series is a waste of time and energy. The book was unpredictable and the suspense was extraordinary. The series did no justice to the book at all. Undoubtedly one of the worst adaptation I have seen so far.

12 songs of Rabindranath
jarintasnim-7309726 August 2021
Srijit Mukherjee has never made a series in the name of Rabindranath Ekhane Kokhono Khete Asenni(Rekka😒). In fact, he has made a music video album of 12 songs of Rabindranath with Badhan Apa.

Dark, morbid & macabre ... Just like a thriller should be !!
sanjubhat21 January 2022
Web series review: Rekka streaming on HoiChoi .. especially for my bong friends #sanjuzzreviews #Rekka #HoichoiOriginals #hoichoi Directed by Srijit Mukherji, Rekka is a Bengali thriller web series based on a Novel "Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni" (Robindronath never came to eat here) by Bangladeshi writer Mohammed Nazimuddin.

The setting and characters are fascinating, a remote village-Sundarpur, a gourmet restaurant with a strange name, it's equally bewitching, seductive, mysterious owner Mushkan Zuberi ( played by Bangladeshi actress ( Azmeri Haque Badhon), a nosey journalist poking his nose into the lady's past and so on.

What are the dark secrets lurking in the lady's past? What is she hiding ? .. and does it have any connections to the disappearances of people near Sundarpur. This is what the series tries to decipher.

Starts off at a leisurely pace , very laidback in a typical bengali manner. But picks up pace as the series progresses and secret's start tumbling out.

Boasting of an impressive ensemble cast ... Rahul Bose, Anirban Bhattacharya, Anjan Dutt amongst others, it is indeed a pleasure to see these actors work their magic on screen.

People might find it a bit slow to start off with, but make no mistake, the climax is as dark & macabre as a phychological thriller can get.

The title track " kaar milono chao birohi " by ustaad rashid khan is haunting and is apt for a series as this. Rest of the songs to have a melancholic tune which compliments the narrative perfectly.

Definitely a must watch for everyone who like their thrillers with dark , gory and morbid tones.

My rating .. 3.5/5 .. Adios 🙂

Good but couldn't meet expectation!
bulbulshakib13 August 2021
REKKA as book is very suspenseful and thrilling. The show kept the original story and flavor of the book. But it failed to create the actual SUSPENSE of the story. It's good, but could've been made better.

Not a single episode create any suspense to raise any curiosity what is happening next.

This series is an example for how to dump an extraordinary story into an garbage.

Good Suspense..
jbdgp18 September 2021
I give stars for the Movie un-usal story line.its fantastic and Very New.

Screenplay is little bit slow but may be its because of "ROBINDRA NATH" Theme. Anyway its not related to that legacy only Name is used.

In a First scene you can predict what will be story.. But Climax makes you shock... Must Watch Series..

Not a good Srijit project
smarifbillah17 August 2021
Story was not strong. Making was average.

Slow storytelling. It will be right to say that it's one of Srijit's worst project.

Besides Badhon's acting was so immature.

Ravindranath Yaha Kabhi Nahi Aaye
smir-5582831 August 2021
I have watched this series in hindi with title "Ravindranath Yaha Kabhi Nahi Aaye"

Series is full of suspense, shown the tendency of human being that how human can behave in critical situation.

I like the acting of Rahul Bose and Bangladeshi actress Azmeri Haque Badhon

No doubt it's different story and you can enjoy it.

Dont waste your time.
tubaic-8245820 August 2021
Initial episodes were good. Then suddenly the story telling lost the rhythm. Poor adaptation of the original.

Unnecessarily Lengthy, could have been completed in 6-7 episodes. Overuse of Tagore Songs every now and then.

The character of Muskan in the story was never as portrayed here. Also I believe we have better actresses in our film industry.

Anirban was good. Anjan Dutta as usual, overacting at times. The gentleman acting as SP was horrible. Rahul Bose was ok. He screaming the 'F' word multiple times was pathetic. Director should have thought of better ways to show the frustration.

Srijit Mukherjee, his quality of work is deteriorating quite fast.
