- The story of a family which, in a quest for freedom and independence, changes its life and settles on an island cut off from reality. Parents and their two adolescent children live in harmony with nature and become consummate in their art of survival. They practice the ideas of self-sufficiency, minimalism, environmental friendliness, and through their rituals they manage to build a substitute community. Under the arrangement, the father is the head of the family and the decision-maker, he is the teacher of survival who inculcates in children the idea absolute freedom, providing a sense of happiness with living away from the civilized world. Roles and rules seem to be simple, but rivalry and rebellion quickly set in. Family issues and tensions build up, disturbing the peaceful coexistence and relations and changing the balance of power within the family. The situation becomes even more challenging with another, possibly tough winter, when food and water supplies may become scarce. Fear starts to germinate in the minds of family members as they are faced with increasingly difficult choices... This is Bartek Bala's debut and the first Polish film financed through crowd-investing, thanks to the commitment of three hundred individual investors.
