This mini series of three episodes of seventy five minutes each was a taut, suspense-filled drama. Hana Kucerova is a hard-working nurse who has no real friends in the hospital department she works in. A couple of the other sisters admire her hard work but deplore her no-nonsense attitude. Hana even treats her daughter in the same way, unsympathetically.
Over the course of the three episodes we see how jealousies and ambition corrupt the police investigation to its seemingly logical conclusion. Alongside this is the human interest story of Hana's daughter's ruined life as she tries to organise a defence for her cold and uncaring mother.
The tension builds until the verdict and the epilogue brings a sort of resolution in part.
I wasn't sure I'd enjoy this but I did immensely. It's a definite recommend.
