Definitely a classic episode to be remembered
TOMNEL29 October 2009
We are now in season 7 of Curb, and the big talk about this season is the Seinfeld reunion. Well, this episode has nothing to do with the Seinfeld reunion, but this episode is definitely hilarious, and one of the best episodes of the series.

Larry begins dating a paraplegic woman, Denise, but he is unhappy with the relationship until he realizes the perks he gets dating her, and in turn he is invited to a concert with her, that he was previously de-invited to. Meanwhile Larry gets into a fight with Rosie O'Donnell over who pays the bill, and the news of Larry getting beat up gets out to Ted Dansen. Larry ends up losing Denise's number after Susie throws his Blackberry phone in the ocean, and he meets another handicapped woman Wendy, and assumes the perks from her. Chaos and hilarity ensues when Larry goes to the concert/party with Wendy.

This episode has so many classic scenes. The final scene at the private concert in the episode is just as uncomfortable and hilarious as any other scene from Curb. This episode constantly is on the border between uncomfortable (as most Curb is...it's a good thing), hilarious and silly, all of which are perfectly balanced to make this a really classic episode. And unlike the previous episode, "The Hot Towel", Larry isn't such a complete moron that everything is his fault.

Really this is one of Curb's best episodes, and what "The Doll" was to season 2, this will likely be the season 7...the season classic. But, hopefully this season turns out more episodes like this, because this was start to finish hilarious.

My rating: **** out of ****. 30 mins. TVMAL

One of the best!

Curb never seems to lose it's edge, after 7 seasons this show is as funny as ever. And this episode prove that this show is the funniest show on TV. In this episode we get a bit of everything, some Leon (one of my new favorite character's), the always hysterical Susie, and of course a lot of great Larry bits. The fight with Rosie O'Donnell, Larry's scheme to date handicapped because of the benefits it gives him and a whole lot of arguments.

To bad that this might actually be the last season, because I know Larry at least has one more season in him. Especially with the introduction of Leon in season 6, they are hilarious together.

Classic Larry

Warning: Spoilers
That's the kind of CYE episode you recommend your buddy who never saw the show. Larry carried a handicapped woman upstairs, he tried to make out with her on the wheelchair, and then he ran around the house from women on wheelchair because he made himself look like a cheater. Larry David takes a funny situation and makes various hilarious things around that situation. He is a genius and it's so obvious that he is the man who created Seinfeld.

Larry dates Denise, and Wendy too...

When it come to insensitivity, Larry is an expert!

Larry is having coffee. He whistles a tune that he is listening in his IPod. An attractive lady, Denise, sitting across the room, asks him what is playing. He explains it's Chee Yun, a classic violinist. She loves the soloist. Larry surprises her when he tells her is going to a private concert at the home of some friends. She can't believe it! Larry suggests they could go on a pre-date before he takes Denise to the concert, something he knows can be arranged. When Denise moves to come near Larry, he notices she is on a wheelchair, something he didn't realize when he first saw her.

His meeting with Rosie O'Donnell, at a restaurant, turns out to be a fiasco because she wanted to pay the check, even though Larry had invited. Rosie and Larry make quite a spectacle of themselves. Larry meets the Fowlers, the sponsors of the private concert, taking a stroll with their adopted Chinese girl. Larry asked whether the girl tended to favor chopsticks, rather than normal eating utensils. The parents walk away horrified by their encounter. The Fowlers decide Larry is not welcome at the concert.

Larry had invited Denise out. Little does he know the restaurant they are going to, has no ramp for wheelchairs. Larry doesn't want to try another place, so he ends up taking Denise in his arms, something that strains his back. Larry is considering dropping Denise, but he is in for a big surprise on a second date where he has decided to tell her his decision. He is not prepared for a nice benefit Denise can offer. Because she is handicapped, they can park at a spot in front. Not having reservations, they're shown to a table right away. They get invited to champagne, on the house. The perfect evening ends in a sour note because Ted Danson, who is dining with a friend, sends the couple a piece of the pie he claims is "to die for", but not having room for any more, Larry refuses and has an argument with Danson.

At the beach with Jeff and Susie, he is asked to look after Sammi, who is going in the water. As the Greenes leave for a stroll, Larry is playing games on his Blackberry. Sammi, suddenly appears to be drowning. Larry, watches the scene. He starts running, but he still had the phone, so he goes back. By that time Jeff and Susie get there as the girl had been rescued. Susie who sees the Blackberry, grabs it from Larry and throws it to the water.

The problem Larry faces is that how can he contact Denise to tell her they're on for the concert. He knows her neighborhood, but he's not sure of the address. Leon suggests they drive around the area to see if Larry recognizes where Denise house is located. When they spot a young woman in a wheelchair. Larry decides to take a chance and see if this lady knows Denise. Of course, she doesn't, but she is a big fan of Chee Yun. As it turns out, Wendy, the new handicapped woman loves the idea of going with him.

The night of the concert, Larry arrives with Wendy. He never expected to find Denise, who is already there. Larry decides to hide Wendy in a closet and goes to talk to Denise, who is not too happy. When Larry's phone rings, Denise grabs it, and learns that Wendy is calling from the closet. Rosie O'Donnell, who happens to hear the fracas, goes to the rescue, chasing Larry all over the house.

Another great installment on the series. Larry makes a statement about our dependence on such modern conveniences as the Blackberry where we have all our contacts at our fingertip. He also makes a point about the guilt people feel about persons with a handicap, who get privileges everywhere because we don't know how to treat them.

This show was directed by David Mandel. A great appearance by Anita Barone, who plays Denise. Rosie O'Donnell has some hilarious moments. Amy Pietz is seen as Wendy. Ted Danson and the regulars are at their best in this episode.

A rather forgettable episode. The most notable part is Rosie O'Donnell.
