A selection in the New Hampshire Film Festival, "In the Cards" was originally created as an entry in the New York City 48-Hour Film Project competition in 2008. Using Craigslist and other online resources, the production team assembled a crew -- at the last possible minute -- of 23 strangers who had never worked together before. The first filming location was lost when they discovered the street was closed for a block party, complete with a bandstand and loud music directly in front of their building. Their second location was lost when neighbors in the building complained about the equipment in the hallway. Each location change required a script re-write. Fortunately, enough footage was shot to edit it all together into something clever and funny. Shooting was still taking place on the day of the competition deadline, and the team raced in cabs to the drop-off location, burning DVD's on a laptop as they wove in and out of traffic. The team reached the drop-off site just six minutes before deadline.
