Warning: Spoilers
Intense scenes with Julia and Smurf and you see the origins of her downfall here. Smurf used to be a complicated character, but they've established her as a full-blown villain here.

May we always get what we want, but never what we deserve

Warning: Spoilers
The series finale tied things up pretty well. All the Codys left left by the start of this episode, except baby Nick, end their arcs, which is unusual in this kind of series. Deran was the only one of the brothers left alive, but he was pretty well finished, and Nick's arc never even started.

It turns out that Smurf was almost right about family. The one outcast who was taken in, turned out to be the exception to Smurf's main rule about family being the only ones who could be trusted. J had planned his revenge for a long time and Deran had said to him, "You've always played the long game" without really knowing how true that was.

J is revealed to be totally self centered. Other people are only there for him to use, in his mind, at least. He's the supreme psychopath of all the Cody family. Smurf and Pope have nothing on J.

I had a thought when J was drowning that now all three of the brothers had nearly drowned him in that pool. J survived that, when Pope had mercy on him, but J only got what he thought he wanted, while getting what he deserved after all: being left permanently outside of his family of his own doing.
