For Marie, it's an uphill challenge, tasked with producing an heir, she does all she can to seduce Louis, even turning to Madame Du Barry for help, unfortunate he's not interested.
Wow, this builds so well on from the first episode. It is very much the episode where Marie begins to find her plane at Versailles, from the lowest run, she starts climbing the runs on the ladder.
Plotting and scheming galore, the underhandedness and sheer deviousness amongst that family, made for an enchanting hour's viewing.
Very well paced once again, it was visually decadent, and the acting once again was quite something. James Purefoy was terrific, that scene where he tries to explain to Louis about his duties was quite something.
Gaia Weiss, who played Madame Du Barry, she was sensational here.
Excellent episode, roll on the next.
